Guest guest
We should be drinking 8 cups of fluid a day, not 8 cups of water on top of all other drinks. If I had that much I would feel ill. TTFN Sue (au). Duran wrote: > How much water should we be drinking a day? Actually Sue, this isn't what's recommended. We're all supposed to drink a large amount of water every day regardless of how much other liquid we drink. That is because the body needs clear water to run itself, and any other liquids, even KT, generate heat in the body for it to process. The body needs clear water in large amounts to cool this heat and for all its processes, from cellular regeneration and communication to joint lubrication. One can and will become clinically dehydrated if one drank only KT and not clear water. Coffee, milk, tea, sodas, juices, KT, kefir... none of that counts toward the quota of clear water. Lusana first mentioned this here and I find it really helps: A small pinch of whole-salt in my water. Makes it easier to keep up with my intake, and tastes so good. It also helps to drink small amounts frequently (1 cup every hour one is awake is a good amount). I have a quart mason jar that I know I have to empty 3 times every day, and I carry it with me around the house whatever I'm doing so that I get that intake. I work at home, but if I worked in an office I'd keep one there too. There is a formula for how much clear water to drink each day, but someone else will have to respond to that. --V ~~~ There is no way to peace; peace is the way ~~~~ --A.J. Guest guest
I disagree... caffeinated fluids such as sodapop, tea, coffee and even KT actually dehydrate the body... Many folks are walking around experiencing different kinds of symptoms due to lack of pure water... and most doctors and other health professionals don't realize it... The Body's Many Cries for Water helps explain further... www.watercure2.com ~Lusana Sue McEwen wrote: We should be drinking 8 cups of fluid a day, not 8 cups of water on top of all other drinks. I shall start it today. My water intake is very haphazard, normally, and I tend to drink more KT than water, which is naughty, I know. The 8 cups suggested before come up as almost 2 litres (2 quarts) on my converter. I've got a 1 1/2 litre (quarts) water bottle in the kitchen. I'll see how far I get with it today. I would need to fill it and drink it twice ..... I'll feel like a water baby ;-) Thanks, for the water input. I need poking on that one. Guest guest
Hi , Recommended by whom? This varies depending on which 'professional' you speak to. http://www.snopes.com/medical/myths/8glasses.asp has an interesting view. http://www.canoe.ca/HealthMayeMuskColumns/010213.html - " ......In a recent Tufts newsletter, Dr Wayne , PhD, a researcher at Purdue University said the " 8 glasses a day " guideline was mistranslated. The fact is that 8 cups of fluid is necessary for water balance, which includes fluids from foods and metabolic reactions...... " If I drank the 'required' amount of water on top of everything else I drink, I'd feel terrible. I tried it once and will never do it again. Too much water can create water intoxication which alters the salt level of the blood. A small pinch of salt in your water making it 'taste so good' would mean you're replacing needed electrolyte. That is important. I found drinking too much K is a bit rough on my body but its OK in smaller amounts. http://www.alpharubicon.com/med/watertox.html relates to Hyponatremia or water intoxication - what happens if you get too much water and not enough salt. Guest guest
Please add in the whole mineral salt... Redmond RealSalt, Celtic or Himalayan salt. Otherwise, as was mentioned, too much water can upset electrolyte balance... And good luck! Build up to it... ~L Margret Pegg wrote: > I have a quart mason jar that I > know I have to empty 3 times every day, and I carry it with me around the > house whatever I'm doing so that I get that intake. > --V Your method, , sounds a very good one.
