Guest guest
Yes, yes, yes! My kids laugh at me when I'm trying to get a word out and instead say 3 or 4 words that don't make sense at all. I do believe it is stress. Russ mentioned that as caregivers we are more prone to stress and then theres the worry well - where we feel as though we too are getting symptoms of the disease. Guest guest
, Mom died in " 02 and with all the catch up stuff and estate settlement, I still do that and probably even worry about it. And I am older than you, (please do not ask by how much, it is a lot) and I hope and think it is stress. I keep hoping the articles I have read that says if you can eventually think of the word it is not dementia. I spend lots of time proving to myself by really trying to remember the word so I know I am O.K. Donna R
Guest guest
, I can identify with this. Some days dad might come up with the word before I can. LOL Let's just hope that it is just stress and not anything worse. It sounds like you have a pretty full life besides caring for your father and the work that you are doing here. Take care of yourself and we're here to help you if we can. An aside - I read that you live in State College. Dad's sister, who lives in town, called last week and would like me to come for a few days. Right now is not a good time to leave dad since I need to concentrate on moving him, but when I do get up that way maybe we can meet. I have a feeling I will be traveling across I-80 more than I want to till I get everything settled. Take care and think positive thoughts, Gwen Is it stress or something worse? Dear friends, Over the last year of becoming more my father's caregiver than daughter, I've begun having more problems with word finding of my own. Sometimes it takes me 3 tries to get the right word out, and it happens on a daily basis. And concentrating when reading is a bit more of a challenge, and writing or typing brings more mistakes. Having two children, a busy husband, a needy father, my own obligations with church and hobby activities, I'm a busy, busy girl. I know it could be stress, depression or subtle changes of something more ominous to come. Anyone else experiencing the same thing? Welcome to LBDcaregivers. Guest guest
SNAP ! Sally here - and I too have the same 'difficulties' you are experiencing. I have also fallen victim to migraine headaches since the catastrophes of the last 4 years happened to me. I do think it is stress - I notice I get worse the more pressure I am under. I ALWAYS have that haunting thought though .... in the back of my mind I wonder about heredity and the possibility that I may have to face the beast myself one day. You are doing too much!!! I'm just reaching out my arms through this computer right now to give you a giant hug {{{{{{}}}}}} Treat yourself to a break - or at least a bar of chocolate!!
