Why would you add germaben to lip balm? I only add that to lotions, because

of the water in it can grow nasties.

<<is there something that can be added to lip balm to actually help in the

healing of chapped lips?>>

I use Tea Tree & Lavender Essential Oils, they work nicely...doesn't taste

really Super, kind of a hint of a medicinal taste (I think it's more of a

" smell " )

Kukui nut oil is supposed to be great for dry skin... I've been using Aloe

Vera Oil, too & it seems to help...

Fran..

This is my favorite recipe and I have passed it around freely because

it is so good. My daughter loves it and her friends are asking me for

it too. I put mine in a 2 oz pot.

2 TB of each

Emu

A & D Ointment

Wax granuals

Lavender

Put all ingredients in micro proof container (like a coffee cup)

and melt until wax liquified. stir a bit and put in the pot.

Let cool and presto! You wont be disappointed in this recipe!

EO

to lip balm just for smell and healing? Obviously it wont improve the taste.

>>

Carli,

I'd put in some castor oil, as it is thought to be very good for lips. You

could add lemon, tea tree, peppermint, spearmint, or orange eo, keeping in

mind that the citrus have some degree of photosensitivity. I use 10 drops

for 5 - 6 T. of balm.

Deb,

I tried a lip balm that my friend made that had flavoring but no sweetener,

and it tasted flat. I didn't like it. She didn't mind, however, so you'll

only find out by trying it yourself, I guess. You could use stevia or maybe

glycerin as part of the oil.

Beth, when it comes to lip balms, I wouldn't put any kind of FO in them.

Many people have put very small amounts of tea tree, or a fruit EO, but you

must be aware of the photosenitisation problems citrus oils can cause. A

teenie-tiny touch of peppermint or spearmint EO can be nice, but remember

TEENIE amounts. Best bet, if you want a scent to your balms is to use lip

balm flavorings. They give more of a scent than a real taste.

Hi Beth, I haven't made lip balms in awhile, but when

I did I put flavor oils in them with a little honey to

sweeten and they tasted yummy! Let me know if you'd

like to know were I get my flavors from.

This is NOT the stuff.

EO and Fo should not be used. You need flavor oils I think snowdrift farms

have some.

I make mine unscented and they are a big hit with every one. You may want

the flavor for the wedding.

Hi!

I am ready to make lip balm and start filling these 200 lip balm containers

that, for some reason, I bought. My question is, how does one fill these

containers? These are chap stick twist up type coontainers. Thanks for you

help!

Here is the lip gloss recipe that I make all of the time.

It is called Citrus Lip Gloss but you can substitute any flavoring oils that

you want, you can substitute the chocolate chips for the beeswax.

3 Tablespoons Sweet Almond oil

2 tsp beeswax

1tsp aloe vera gel

1 tsp honey

8 IU Vit E

If you are going to make the citrus gloss add 4 drops lemon essential oil

and 3 drops of tangering essential oil

Melt beeswax (or chocolate chips) together with the oil. When melted add

honey and Vit E mixing briskly with a wire whisk. Add aloe vera gel and

continue to whisk briskly. When almost cool add the essential oils and

continue to whisk. Don't stop the whisking while the mixture is cooling as

the ingredients could separate and you would have a lumpy product.

Hello,

This is the second recipe for lip products that contained Chocolate Chips.

Why? What do they do other then taste good? And why would you use these

instead of beeswax? I'm confused :-?

Hi Raven, again. this sounds wonderful. Is it a lip balm or gloss?

How much does it make and do you pour it in pots or twist tubes? Bye for

now

I buy my lip balm, melt it and put it in containers...(When I started looking at

recipes I thought it would be cheaper to just buy it already done, when this is

gone I am going to experiment with a new recipe i found thou)...they havent sold

very good at shows, but then I really don't " market " them. I have given them in

swaps and everyone seems to like them. Maybe if I had a better label and

advertised they would sell better. However i only sell mine for $1.00 to $1.25

soooooooo maybe I Have them to cheap...lol. I still like to make them. I

usually keep 25 on hand all the time. As a matter of fact I am making some

tomorrow.

Good morning~

I also would like to know about body gel and massage oil. Does anyone make

this? I would like to get started with these the first of the year. Thanks so

much

It is my understanding, and I could be wrong, but if you add any ingredient

that is a sunscreen. This becomes an over the counter drug in the eyes of the

FDA. Of course this is only important if you are going to sell it. Anything

that has any healing or protective claims to it, needs to be throughly tested

to FDA standards before it can be marketed.

Of course if this is for priviate use, never mind!

Hi~

If you used shea butter in the lip balm, you need to let it melt for

about 10 minutes on low heat so it will not get grainy after it sets

up. Other than that I'm not sure why it would.

Lori, I keeping trying to remember if it was Blistex or not. It was

in a little round yellow container. I am also allergic to bees so if

the product has beeswax in it I get hives. I will try to find out

which one it was. Trudy.
