Hello Everyone! As for the newsletter from Dr. K I

think we need lots of information on vitamins. I struggle with this all the

time. But I would also like to hear from either Dr. K or one of you lovely

people on GERD. I have got the worst case ever. Since surgery I had it

periodically and woke up to the disgusting bile taste that was impossible to

get rid of. Now it’s become a nightly event (can be anywhere from

midnight to 5 a.m.) and I end up actually vomiting to get rid of the acid. I’ve

tried the 14 day OTC solutions – they work for 2 or 3 days and then don’t.

I recently started taking apple cider vinegar mixed with baking soda before

bed. That also worked for 3 nights. Last night – not so much. So now I

don’t know what to do! The only other thing I’ve found is to take Papaya

tablets. Which I will pick up tomorrow at the health food store and ask there

if they have other ideas. But I’m really wondering if this is related to

surgery (although I’m almost 8 years out and it’s kind of recent

that it’s become so regular). I appreciate anyone’s imput!!!

Thank you,

Tammy

Tammy, My mom has acid reflux and she takes Papaya tablets, elevates her bed and sleeps with two pillows. When my dad was alive, he cut 2.x 4 boards into squares and put them under the legs of the head board. That was over 40 years ago and mom still uses them. If you have your gall bladder, it maybe related. What you eat prior to bedtime also affects the acid. Not being of the medical profession, it is just my opinion that I doubt the acid reflux is related to the DS...I also had acid reflux prior to the DS and knock on wood, havent had an attack since the surgery and that was in Jan of 2005. Hope you find some relief soon.

Thanks . For your imput about the Acid

Reflux. I read quite a few people recommending Papaya tablets. That’s

first on my list to try. I got through another night last night with no

flare up taking an OTC acid pill along with Apple Cider Vinegar plus I had

taken my probiotics twice yesterday.

I talked to someone today at work that says her

husband had it for years and ended up with precancer. She said I need to

get it taken care of asap! And they have an elevated bed head too.

I guess I should get working on that.

Sigh.

Dr. K would say " come in so I can scope you and find out what is going on " .

GERDS can indeed cause a precancerous condition in the esophagus. You may have

a hiatal hernia or something going on.

Let me know if you try the papaya enzyme and how it worked.
