Guest guest
Thanks, Carol, I printed it up for future references. LOL, SC Pat ccaughran wrote: Hope all have a wonderful weekend. Wanted to share a couple of thoughts. For the sweats or any cooling down - don't order the expensive neck wraps. Sports Authority carries a neck wrap with gel beads that expand in cold water - just tie it around yours or your LO's neck. It's less than $7. I'm a softball umpire (and have been for 35 years!) I use two and keep one around my neck and the other cooling off in a jug of ice water. I also use a mild solution of 2 tsp of ammonia to a gallon of water = really helps you cool down fast. Also, a quick fix for dehydration is dill pickle juice on ice. It tastes awful, but it rehydrates faster than GatorAde and it's cheaper. Most restaurants (or hot dog stands) will give you the left over pickle juice along with the glass jar. I've even been known to freeze small plastic bottles with a pickle juice solution for the heat. Also freeze bottles of water and drink them as they defrost - keeps you hydrated. For anyone with a LO without an official diagnosis. I took one of the three page Stages Project Questionnaire and filled it out with my dad's Yes/no responses, faxed it to the neuropsyche's office before dad's initial appointment and took another copy with me for the doctor just in case the faxed copy was lost in the file somewhere. Finally, whenever I find myself getting upset with behavior, professionals, etc, I use two sayings. The first is " Resentments are what I use to punish myself for the shortcomings of others. " I just decide that I don't need to beat myself up anymore (LBD and AD are doing quite fine already!) The last and most important in view of the fluctuations - is " Don't give up ten seconds before the next miracle. " Hope this helps someone - at least it helped remind me of some basics by sharing. Hugs and prayers - Carol Welcome to LBDcaregivers.
