Guest guest
I am contemplating buying a second set of sprout garden trays for my birds' sprouts.I have been using colanders because the Easy Sprout I bought over the holidays to use for them is not big enough and is usually filled with something sprouting. I sprout 2 mixes--one for the bigger birds (greys, sennies) and one mix for the little birds (cockatiels, budgies, finch, canaries). I make the mixes myself and they include millet, brown rice, sunflower seeds, corn, quinoa, wheatberries, oats, barley, mung beans, lentils, nuts, and I forget what else. The little bird mix does not have the nuts and as many lentils and beans. They all get a handfull of whatever leafy sprouts we are eating--today everyone got a handful of broccoli/clover. My copy of BirdTalk (a parrot enthusiast's magazine) came in the mail yesterday and I flipped it open today to see an article on sprouting. It is not the first time they have written about it. But it coincides with my own flock starting to really like sprouts. It is a basic article but very encouraging to bird owners who haven't tried sprouts for their birds.I noticed both greys are now sprout lovers. I knew that once Sonny, the male, noticed Sammy his mate, eating sprouts with such gusto, he would eat them too.It is the little things that thrill:)marion
Guest guest
You might want to reconsider the EasyGreenmicroFarm. I'm a retired Engineer who bought one because, as a human I'm prone to human error, inattention, and negligence (sometimes I multitask or vacation or skip tasks like disinfecting or inspecting or dewatering). My health, sprouts and microgreens deserve better.
