Guest guest
No I cannot cry in front of my son. He has even yelled at me to stop in the past. I know he has always been very disturbed by strong feelings, sadness in particular. He has said he can feel someone elses feelings go right through him. So, as much as I think it's good for kids to know we have feelings too, I spare both of us the ordeal and keep it to the shower. His whole ocd is wrapped around supressing any feelings but anger. He perceives this as weakness, which he cannot have. Not able to be vulnerable... Given the saddistic bully in his head I don't blame him in a sense, but it is a real block to participating in treatment. How about others? I remember others posting similar stories about their kids extreme discomfort with emotions displayed. Probably another tendency with these kids, hypersensitivity.
