Jan,

Just wanted you to know I am thinking of you and praying for Jim. I just

can't believe all this has happened. I know you must be just beside yourself

with the hospital. Hopefully, now they will really understand not to give Jim

Haldol. Let us know how you are both doing when you have time. Take a deep

breath. We are here for you.

Sending you strength,

Piper

gee,

i thought hospitals were supposed to take care of us, hmmmmm me bad as the

kids now a days say. lets see, lbd patients cant go to hospital combative

because the drug of prefernce to maintain control is halydol, i am perscription

morphine user for chronic uncontrollable pain, and i cant go to hosptial because

of unmanageable pain because i am a drug seeker, hmmmm what does the medical

world want, patients that require the preverbial apple a day, and take 2

aspirins and call me in the morning if you re not better. dammit, so stupid.

take it all the way folks, every complaint, when dad was in hospital, i

filled out one of their quetionnaires i got in the mail. some was ok, but some

was the pits, for example a wad of hair, 3inches of it, on floor need dads bed,

clearly visible for 3 days, and wasnt picked up by cleaning, nursing nobody,

i did get a call back from enviromental services supervisor who asked if it

could have been missed and i said i was glad to have dad home, my house isnt

spotless dont get me wrong folks, being disabled my house is clean enough to

be happy, dirty enough to be healthy lol, and we have 4 dogs 2 cats going

in/out doggie door. this env supvr told me rooms were to be dusted and walls

drymopped daily, corners and windowsills included , then the bathroom was

supposed to be cleaned and sterilized. phones were to be disinfected, and then

floor

dry mopped foloowed by wet mop. i laughed hysterically when he told me that.

dry mop, i never saw a dust cloth or a dry mop. and the wet mop just

sloshed dirty water all around the floor, i toldhim to go look near door jams

and

see the difference in the color of hte tiles.

3 days later he called me back and said i was exactly right, apparently they

tested some of their housekeepers by putting traps down. and most failed

miserably. and then a week later, we got a letter addressed to my dad, since he

was patient, thanking him for instilling into me the courage to say when things

were wrong and to do it diplomaticaly and that he personnally assured dad

should he have to come back into hospital that those problems i addresse are

being took care of,

sigh, i got praised for bitching what a laugh, but hopefully it will keep

someone from getting some stupi infection friom lack of cleanliness.

Jan - I know how angry and frustrated you must be with " mangled

care " rather than managed care. How dare professionals take

the " easier softer way " and skimp on communication and coordination.

I know it's difficult, but I do hope you can use your energy and

justified anger to educate all of those jerks! I'd start with

supervisors, administrators and patient advocates. And why stop

there? A malpractice attorney or your local TV station's guru (we

have " Help me " in south Florida) might also be ideas. And

after you've ranted and raved and advocated your heart out, please

take care of yourself and know that you have our thoughts, prayers

and outrage. I'm so sorry this happened to you two. LBD is bad

enough - we don't need health care professionals to add salt to our

wounds and completely disregard our wishes and directives. Please

post when you can. Cyber hugs are coming your way from my computer!

My prayers are with you. Carol

Jan:

Double, SHIT!!

I can't believe the incompetence!!! It's beyond believable.

I'm just responding to this post given that I was wondering how Jim

was. Excuse my lateness in getting back to you - school is winding

down. You and Jim have both been in my thought though which is why

I'm so pissed at this.

I'm hoping to read further on that Jim has woken up and the adverse

reaction to the Haldol ends there.

Thank goodness he's home with you!! He's lucky to have you.

Abby
