Guest guest
Hi Courage- Today, on my way home from work I noticed a white german shephard...running and frolicking with his owner, just as our white shephard did. Rocky was in this dog and I saw him over and over again. Instantly I thought of you, and of Max. May you find the simple reminders that I had today - that Max still exists, not only in your memories and your heart, but in every day life, running and playing as he used to. Thinking of you today, with a heartfelt smile, after seeing my reminder of Rocky earlier today- Sandie
Guest guest
Thanks so much Sandie. Your kindness is inspiring. Funny thing is happening over at my house. A neighbour of mine watches a few children who aren't school age yet and these 3 boys (, and Colin) have started to come over to my yard to look at Max's picture everyday. We are fast friends...they can't pronounce my name so they call me " Freddie " which I love. When I'm playing with them they stop, look at me and say " I miss Max " . Its so cute. I was worried about their being too said so after a few days I told them that Max will always live in our hearts. Now they stop playing and tell me that they feel Max in their hearts....too cute! They also never tire of looking at Max's ashes. My grief is better now, not as immediate as it once was though there are times when it becomes overwhelming. I know this has everything to do with the love I had for him and for the sake of his being the first " person " I loved who died on me. Perhaps that was his last gift to me, teaching me how to move on in life so that I could do so when my mom and dad pass on. Hope you are well. Your story left me feeling so comfortable in knowing Max is still with you, running around in the children coming to visit you, and that you are finding peace with your life now. It is good to see you post, and to feel the happiness in your words. There is power in prayer, and Godincidences really do happen, you have proven that!! Guest guest
Thanks Sandie. I went to a web page to look at white German Shepards and they are so beautiful! I've hardly every seen one around here. Rocky must have been special and must have gotten lots of positive feedback from all who saw him. Guest guest
It is amazing that people think of St. Bernards as being nice as they are supposed to rescue people in the snow. Actually they are not very nice and I learned to keep my dog away from them when at a show. A neighbor had one who turned on his children so you do have reason to walk around them and not near them. Simmel Re: Dearest Courage hey there, i used to be partial to wire haired fox terriers that is until my bandit left me. i got him from a pet store for $75 shiping he had severe kidney problems and was going to be euthanized. he spent 1 year on canne food that cost in 1982 $1 a can. he survived that, he survived heartworm treatment, he lived for 9 years, spoiled rotten he was, he went to groomer once a month and got an ice cream dish to eat before he got groomed. he had all the nono's includig m & m's and he lived despite the odds agaiust him originally he was given 2 years tops. he lived up to his name, bandit, he was always stealing and hiding things. smiling, even now he can bring tears of sadness to me, i miss him terribly and will never had another fox terrier. so i went to yorkshire terriers, curently i have 4, little bit my oldest 15 years old he is the first husband of misty who is 12 who has a 2nd husban snickers, 9, and their son troubles. troubles was named in uterus, he was the sole survivor of 3 pups. misty aborted 2 of them, and when she went into labor on june 30th he said noway so we had to ahve an emergency c-section. she had 2 previuos litters naturally, and the vet was concerend when she came to that she didnt nurse her pup. they were open another 3 hours after seh was ready to come home so i went and picked them both up on the grounds if she didnt nrse i would bring them back before clsoing. well as soon as i got there, andpicked up her puppy and showed her " your baby " we got in car, she wanted to be close to her pup, when we got home i put her in her box, and she instantly took care of troubles she just wasnt where she was comfortable and safe, troubles had some minor nerve type problmes so i didnt sell him, he grew out of them but i still kept him, so now i am a yorkie lover. actually i love all dogs, however st bernards scare me, beuase one time when i was 10, walking one of my fox terrier dogs Ceasar jumped the fence and chased my dog and when dog got a way he turned on me, and i had teeth marks on my head and chin, so since then i am afraid of them even tho i have been around some wonderful st bernards still leary of them ok, so much for the dog stories. sharon m
Guest guest
This is very true about St Bernards. They are agressive dogs. I work with lots of different breeds as a dog trainer for our 4H. I teach children how to train their dogs and the St Bernards we have had there are very strong willed toward other dogs and people. > >Reply-To: LBDcaregivers >To: <LBDcaregivers > >Subject: Re: Dearest Courage >Date: Thu, 1 Jul 2004 12:30:27 -0400 >MIME-Version: 1.0 >X-Originating-IP: [4.185.63.199] >X-Originating-Email: [simmelfh@...] >X-Sender: simmelfh@... >Received: from n33.grp.scd.yahoo.com ([66.218.66.101]) by >mc12-f20.hotmail.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(5.0.2195.6824); Thu, 1 Jul 2004 >11:39:31 -0700 >Received: from [66.218.66.29] by n33.grp.scd.yahoo.com with NNFMP; 01 Jul >2004 16:31:39 -0000 >Received: (qmail 73611 invoked from network); 1 Jul 2004 16:30:35 -0000 >Received: from unknown (66.218.66.172) by m23.grp.scd.yahoo.com with QMQP; >1 Jul 2004 16:30:35 -0000 >Received: from unknown (HELO hotmail.com) (65.54.172.110) by >mta4.grp.scd.yahoo.com with SMTP; 1 Jul 2004 16:30:35 -0000 >Received: from mail pickup service by hotmail.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC; >Thu, 1 Jul 2004 09:30:33 -0700 >Received: from 4.185.63.199 by bay5-dav6.bay5.hotmail.com with DAV;Thu, 01 >Jul 2004 16:30:32 +0000 >X-Message-Info: JGTYoYF78jEIemduB2lQyLeeu+BGeOQH >X-eGroups-Return: >sentto-2141318-31329-1088699437-cat86443=hotmail.com@... >X-Apparently-To: LBDcaregivers >References: >X-MSMail-Priority: Normal >X-Mailer: MSN 9 >X-MimeOLE: Produced By MSN MimeOLE V9.00.0013.2101 >Seal-Send-Time: Thu, 1 Jul 2004 12:30:28 -0400 >Message-ID: >X-OriginalArrivalTime: 01 Jul 2004 16:30:33.0164 (UTC) >FILETIME=[bB0DA0C0:01C45F88] >X-eGroups-Remote-IP: 65.54.172.110 >Mailing-List: list LBDcaregivers ; contact >LBDcaregivers-owner >Delivered-To: mailing list LBDcaregivers >Precedence: bulk >List-Unsubscribe: <mailto:LBDcaregivers-unsubscribe > >Return-Path: >sentto-2141318-31329-1088699437-cat86443=hotmail.com@... > >It is amazing that people think of St. Bernards as being nice as they are >supposed to rescue people in the snow. Guest guest
i never really knew they were aggerssive. and years later some of my moms' good freinds raised st bernards. they had 4 of them at aone time, she swore they were all just big babies. i never truste them and only went to here house on one occsion and made them lock the dogs up, needless to say, they chose not to have me over much after that, didnt bother me, i felt safer not going to their house i will stick with the terriers, playful, independent at times, loving, yet, love unconditionally. sharon m
Guest guest
courage, thanks for lettng me share about my dogs, i hope this helps you as well, oh by the way, i have taken all my dogs to photographes, sears penneys, and have had portraits taken on all of them., ohhh i didnt share the lab puppy story, this is soo cute and kool too when my ex and i split up, i was very bored, and had done some minor volunteer work at the local humane society, nd volunteere to take puppie that would need 24/7 care,w ith bottle feeding etc. we got a phone call that they had 2 of the runts from a mixed lab mother who had turned on her pups. so the owner took all the pups to the humane society. they asked if i would take the runts, i agreed. so i got misty's whelping box out, and her blankets and also made a temproty bed for them in a large laudnry basket. the lady came and i put both pups in basket, the male dogs were locked up for time being. just me, teh lady, misty and 2 pups. i showed misty each pup and then put them back in the basket. the lady was watching misty carefully. all of a sudden one of the pups whimpered, and misty tried to climb in the basket with the pups. the lady panicked and tried to reach for the pups. well, misty growled and snapped at the lady, she promptly gotupset and watned to take the pups afraid that misty was gonna hurt them. i reassured her, i said, she doestn know who you are, this is her whelping basket and there a box in the bedroom that is off limits to the boyx and they know it. i picked up one of the pups, and showed her how misty watched me carefully but didnt panic when i did that. and that misty does get impatient wanting the pups to be next to her, i said she has adopted them they are now her pups. i found homes for both pups but made everyone pick them up at the shelter so the shelter would make some money on them, after all i got free food etc for the pups when they were at my house. i brought the pups back at 8 weeks, because i am a firm beleiver taht pups are not ready until they are 8 weeks old. they were both bigger than their litter mates. and healthier too, apparently the other pups went to households without a mother dog, but because misty did all the mother things, cleaning, playing, teaching, everything but nursing. i took them with misty to get their portraits taken and at that time the pups were as big as misty, but it was hilariuos they minded her instantly if she growled they both sat down promptly and waited for her to tell them waht next. it was soooo cute. sharon m
