Courage,

Lets see......Daughter is having problems, Mom is in nh, dad now

diagnosis is AD, not just a little stress!!!...maybe? Guess we can

figure out the spasms.

I did the same with back and chest spasms right after Mom died!! That

hurts!

Sorry, lots of soft hugs.

Courage related:

Dad didn't know what year it was, what day it was

**********************

In my mom's initial evaluation - and she was still in the early stages of

whatever dementia - she knew Clinton was president but had no idea who had

been the president before him.

However, my favorite thing occurred some years later when my mom started

seeing a speech therapist in this building, which BTW, was a waste of time!

Anyway, the therapist asked my mom what year it was (must have been about a

year-and-a-half ago) and my mom replied - 1939!!!! Guess it was a

significant year; that's the year she got married! <g>

Courage,

I have been thinking of you a lot lately, and hoping that you (and ) were

alright. I hope that the spasms pass soon and that you will be back to your old

self. I am sorry to hear about your dad. When you are better we should get

together for coffee or a drink or something. Take care of yourself and relax.

Your sister has been lucky that you have done so much for so long!!!

Hi All,

Just a short note to tell you that dad went to his appt. with a geriatric

psychiatrist and was dx'd with AD - not in the least bit surprised but sad for

him. Dad didn't know what year it was, what day it was and couldn't copy the

diagrams on the test. My sister went with him for appt. and the doctor did not

prescribe Aricept but 50mgs of Seroquel instead (my mom only takes 25mgs and she

really does hallucinate!).

I'm going to have to speak to this doctor but I had to go to emerg this morning

at about 3:30 as I was having very painful chest pain and couldn't catch my

breath - my sister met me at emergency. It scared the heck out of me and my son

who called for an abulance. Docs said that I was having chest spasms (don't know

why) and it was very difficult to breath. 4 hours later I was back at home.

Feeling much better but a bit in pain and feeling winded.

Patti, I have checked into Requip and wrote a fax to mom doc about her switching

to this but didn't get a chance to fax it off to him today.

Here's a hurray to my sister who really got hit with a triple whammy of having

to take care of me, mom and my dad!

advice as well.

his troubles with your mom at the nh, sending thoughts and prayers and hugs to

you, sharon m

Thanks Carol, this pic was taken well before the s$#! hit the fan.

Thanks for reminding me about the pic - I got to see my long real hair

before it all fell out. Though you can't tell, I used to have very long

thick eyelashes that strangers would pull at thinking they were false. I'm

happy that I was able to grow some back though. I also had nicely shaped

eyebrows but again happy that I have some now even if they are not the

same - I use a pencil to fill in the bald spots.

Mom's looks have changed so much too - shes gained some weight from not

being able to move around (and from all her treats!) and she has a cute bob

hairstyle now which is much easier to maintain than the curly perm she

always insisted upon. I like her hair so much better now and regret that we

didn't insist that she try this style earlier.
