Guest guest
Hello all, I am new to this group and this is my first post. I have basically two questions; one is in regard to diet and the other has to do with testosterone. While I understand that I need to give information, I don't want to bore the board with a long story...so please help.... I am a 55 year old female and after a very long bout with lymphoma I am finally well. My illness, the loss of my husband two years ago and the removal of my thyroid, together with self pity eating caused an 80 pound weight gain. With the typical " female " exercise routines (aerobics, bicycle, Pilates ball and bands and tread mill) I lost a lot of weight but started to get very bored and desperate. On June 16th this year I started with weights and since then apart from using the tread mill for warm up have never looked back. I have lowered body fat to 32% have gained much strength and after a three month conditioning period am now working out a real training program. I have been given a diet to which I am supposed to stick to and that is where I am very confused. It is 3100 calories a day with 500 g of chicken breast or fish, 1 egg and two egg whites, 1 can of tuna, 2 cups of commercial cereal ( which I will not eat, since it's second ingredient is sugar) 2 slices of Rye bread and twice a quarter cup of white rice and several orange juices together with four apples and two tomatoes. I am an alternative therapist, understand about nutrition and also understand that I need to eat to gain muscle and lower fat...but that many calories ? And a diet almost devoid of whole grain and no vegetables? Also, I am supposed to eat six freshly cooked meals a day. I work full time and have no idea how to do that....and since I am surely not the only one in this position there must be better ways. I am 157 cms tall and need to lose fat.....which brings me to the next point. Since I no longer have a thyroid I take between 200-300 ug of Levothyroxine and 40-60 ug of Liothyronine as well as 5mg daily of Fluoximesterone (Testosterone) the prescription was originally for 10mg but I was afraid to take it. This prescription has nothing do to with my weight lifting, but I would like to know how I can use testosterone in my program. I spoke to my endocrinologist, but unfortunately here in Mexico all kinds of pretty heavy drugs can be purchased without a prescription, but MDs are not up to date enough to make good and safe use of them. He told me to ask some weight lifters, because they knew more about the subject then most specialists. As you can see, I am a real beginner, I think I am hooked, I feel better then I have for a very long time...but need some advise so I can do things right. I apologize for the long post. Thank you, Angeli Kaeleni Mexico City, Mexico
