Well hi there all.

Just a little question for anybody here including moderators,

does anyone know what the primary function of the biceps is?

In addition, if you know that, what is the second function and the

third function?

Please try to work it out for YOURSELF,

What are the three functions of the biceps,

and post it here please.

I will post the answer in a couple of days,

I posted this in two other forums and nobody knew.

[When you post your response please provide evidence for your answer (and why

Hi ,

Good point. I meant what evolution/nature made the biceps muscle for.

What was the biceps made for doing for it's first movement, first primary

objective of the biceps muscle, to move the arm - up, curl, backwards or twist.

The way the question is worded, I'd say " concentric action,

eccentric action, and isometric action " would also be a valid

answer. No matter what sense of " function " you are talking about

however, any classification of primary, secondary, and tertiary is

relatively meaningless without providing a highly specific context

in terms of an activity.

Even if one activity was given - say boxing - determining what

percentage of the time the muscle is performing which or the above

functions seems nearly impossible. One would have to get more

specific - say retracting a jab - to come up with a clear answer.

Outside basic educational contexts, I don't really see the value of

this sort of general anatomy textbook-style hierarchical

classification of primes and primaries.

Yeah, we women of lifting like building our own. Thanks for the insight

there, Skip... <grin> how big are your biceps again?

Course as a PL they tend to be more utilitarian and less eye candy... they

come in handy for all the groceries one tends to carry in as a strength

athlete.. occasionally crimped into one's bench shirt or doing a group task

like hanging onto the DL bar.. yes Life as a Powerlifter's Biceps is far

less glamorous..

Oh yes, and I don't get your reference to immature poultry? Dude?
