Guest guest
Unexplained 10% bodyweight loss for a 45 year old sedentary smoker? She should see a doctor now. Right now. Skip Dallen Covina, CA Severe weight loss I was wondering if anyone could help me with a question that a co-worker asked me. She told me that she is losing weight fairly fast and is very concerned why. She is very petite, 5'4 " about 96 lbs, she is 45 years old and all her life she has had a fast metabolism and has stayed at a consistent 105 lbs so ten pounds to her is a lot. She has not had a change in her diet at all (she eats all the time) and her work consists of sitting at a desk all day. She does smoke if that makes a difference. Any advice would be helpful. Guest guest
I'd advise her to get to a doctor, as it may be an illness or parasites. In particular, tapeworms can cause radical weight loss by making a home in one's GI tract and eating most of the food one ingests before it can be absorbed.
