Guest guest
I have a number of young athletes (age +/- 16yrs) who are looking to " bulk up " and have asked me to advise them on how to gain weight. Most of these boys are very active. Some are playing/practicing about 6-7 times per week with various representative teams. Many still play school sports, and have PE classes too. A few even ride an approximate distance of up to 16kms (10 miles) round trip to practice. Although I will obviously look at increasing their caloric intake, I do not feel that this would necessarily work. The reason for this is that I do not think that these boys will have the time to eat more! The next step would be to look for a meal replacement. This might prove to be too expensive for some of the boys. Do you have any cost effective suggestions for meal replacements? I have also thought about putting them on a gym programme that will emphasise hypertrophy development. Again, the problem of time could come into it, added to the fact that this will be another energy expending activity. If you have had similar experiences, or have any ideas that we could discuss please could you let me know.
