Guest guest
Dede My Mom is like your Mom, she most times is naked when I go to get her up in the morning. During the night she has wet her Depends and takes it off. Then she seems to wet again so her nightgown and sheets are wet. She takes her gown off and sleeps naked. She puts a towel down on the bed if she doesn't wake me up to change the bed. I have a good mattress cover I got at Bed Bath and Beyond. It sounds simular to the one Sharon discribed. Also about $25.00, but well worth it. I got them when my Dad was in bed 24/7. They are machine washable and machine dryable. She doesn't drink alot so I don't know where all this urine is coming from. She drinks less than 16 ozs a day. She is coming close to not eating at all. I keep a large bath towel and a dry blanket in her room where she can get to them so she can use them when she wants to. That gives her independence when she wants it. Sometimes she is like a little child and others she is like her old self but angry with herself that she wet the bed. So when she is the child she wants her bed changed. When she is her old self she uses the towel and blanket. She apologizes in the morning for wetting her bed but knows she can't change it because of physical disability. I do hear her either way but wait to hear which it is going to be. So maybe Dad should have that towel and blanket handy and let her sleep nude. Both will get a lot more sleep. Who is going to see her if she is in her bedroom? Just a suggestion that works for me. Hugs Jacqui

Guest guest
--Dede, what medications is your mother on? When this happened to my mother (when she behaved the same way) we had to increase her Seroquil which calmed her down more and helped her rest better. In my experience this was one of those nasty stages of the disease. Sometimes it is better just to let them be and make sure that they cannot get hurt. It gets messy so protect the matress. This can last a long time. Sometimes a change in medication can help but it is unfortunately all guess work. I wish I had better advice for you but even though I went through this also it is difficult to advise some times. - In LBDcaregivers , " dedes65 " <dedes65@y...> wrote: > > My father is having a difficult time with my mother in the evenings. > At night she always is trying to take off her nightgown and rip her > depends/diapers off. I have the heaviest duty pull on that North Shore Care can provide, and she will sometimes still wet right through them. I'm thinking it might be part of the disease because since upping the dose of Exelon, this has slowed down. Either that or her kidneys are starting to fail because of the diabetes. *sigh* dargie
