Guest guest
C 2 (Caroline) and the Rest Thanks for your message(s). I am resting comfortably, though this staying in bed thing does not sit well with me. I keep feeling like I gotta get up and go GO GO GOOOOOOOOOOOOO. However, I know that I cannot right now. And the kids and the house are just gonna have to deal along with the bill paying, the PTA and what not's must be done. They will be there when I feel better. My neighbor came and sat with the kids for a bit this afternoon to ensure that homework got completed and even managed to get them go pick up the house before she left the eldest in charge of making dinner and evening chores. Amazing how many helping hands appear when you need them the most. The rest of friends and coworkers from 's job, are stopping by with this or that and calling to say let us know what you need. or what can we do. I will try to sit up this evening in a bit to join in the chat, but I am not sure if I will make it or not. Since I am still sleeping off the drugs from yesterday. The doctor(s) all called to see how I was and told that it is important for me to get rest . And that is why they hit me with what they could in the arsenal yesterday afternoon and evening. The doctor in the ER was very good and even admitted that he had not ever heard of Still's Disease. So in turn we handed him one of the brochures and gave him a crash course in it. And he even went to get the Attending, who did know something. When at first there is a communication problem, educate them all............ Well, so that I can join you in a bit hopefully, I will log off for the time being.. HUGS and Snuggles to all......... and a pain free day............... Guest guest
Tricia, Thank you for your input on the "patch". I will take your words under advisement. I am just feeling like the RD is moving to fast with pain meds especially for someone who has not had that much in the past until the last couple months. And the Family Doc and him talked and decided that I needed to stay on a daily dose of Percocets, and now he all of a sudden is wanting me to consider another type of narcotic. I am scheduled for a meeting with the family doc on Monday afternoon. to talk to her about it all including the Elavil. I will write more later, I am going to go curl up in my fuzzy blankie and watch a bit of TV in hopes of falling asleep since tomorrow is the Twins "pretend" birthday since they leave next thursday for their dad's for the summer(6/17). And we always celebrate before they go to their dad's since we are so far apart and I can't be there with them. Hugs and Snuggles, Tracilyn -----Original Message-----From: TLC Sent: Friday, June 11, 2004 7:49 PMTo: Stillsdisease Subject: "Tracilyn" Dear Tracilyn, Tracilyn, you mentioned your doctor is thinking of possibly scripting the "patch" for you to help control pain? Please never feel like a failure if you consent to this type of treatment. After so many, many years of sharing my life with the nasty "dragon" I am wearing "patches" and taking other meds for breakthrough pain. It took a lot of "soul searching" for me to wear the "patch," as I thought if I did, I would be admitting to defeat. Not so! I had forgotten how nice it can be to live without constant pain. Whereas you still have young children Tracilyn, do not let this make you feel that you should not wear a pain patch. It would be a much different story if you were wanting to wear it to get a "high." I do not get a "high." When one is taking something for pain (and/or that "patch") the pain will sort of "soak up" any so called "high." I don't know how to explain this to you...but, for me, I just feel more....well. It's been one of the best choices I have ever made for myself, and it is NOT about being a failure, or admitting defeat, it's about making a choice to try to live as normal as possible while suffering either from flares, or damage due to the "dragon." Take care my friend, and make the choice to live as comfortable as possible while fighting the war with AOSD.
