Hi ,

Welcome to this LBD site. You have come to the right

place for updated information on LBD and support. I am

glad you have found us. I am sorry to hear of your

dad's struggle with LBD. It is a horrible disease and

effects everyone involved. You sound strong in your

faith and seemed to have found your purpose in helping

your father. He is very fortunate to have you. We have

many families with no family support. Your faith will

keep you strong in dealing with this ugly disease. You

and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Keep

the strength....Jan

, what a special daughter you are. My Mom is 86 and lives with

my husband and I. I also feel that God has put us in this position

for a purpose...to teach us deeper love and compassion. Sending you

and your family strength and prayers.

God bless you,

M

You have a great outlook on life and that will help you get through a lot. I

know my faith has kept me going through all and keeps me going.

I will send up some extra prayers for you so that you will have continued

strength.

I know how you feel about it being a " blessing " to take care of your Dad at

this stage. My Dad has been through so much in his life. He lost his entire

family, parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, etc during the Holocaust of the World

War II, yet managed to marry and raise a close and happy family afterward.

While no one deserves this miserable disease, I can't help but feel that he's

been through enough for one lifetime and had hoped that his " golden years "

would be kind to him.

My Dad was diagnosed with LBD in 1997 and because I've been the primary

interface with his doctors, we've become closer than ever. He moved in with

me

two months ago when his wife was no longer able to take care of him. I still

feel it is a blessing that I am able to do this for him, but I have to admit

to frustration at times. My two sisters live overseas and while I usually feel

they are missing out on the closeness that my Dad and I share and the

pleasure of being able to give him a bit of what he's provided for us, there

are

times I wish they were around to help. The phone calls to me and to Dad, while

appreciated, just aren't the same as a little hands on assistance. My brother,

who is much younger than I, is still raising a young family and of course,

working full time. So it's me. Thankfully, I do have some part-time hired

help.

This group is a wonderful source of information, support and community. I

hope we can help. Feel free to ask, to vent or just think out loud. We're here

for you.

This is a beautiful post. It reminded me of why I chose to be a

caregiver to begin with. Thank you.
