hi everyone i have this problem shane has been doing biomed for nearly 3 years we were going round in circles with gut bugs and constipation then shane had a massive regression he is 8 and now acts how he did when he was 3 and servely autistic, then last week he had a bad bout of constipation no bm for 4 days we took him off all supps but basic and gut ones, i was gonna change his diet back to gf/cf as he was scd but had just been eating everything, behavior is really hyper we are giving risperidal for the violent attacks he was having, but then he started having this really good bm's, so now i am wondering whether if i change diets he will lose them? any advice i would be really grateful

Hi

Poor you, it sounds to me like maybe Shane has had a big bowel movement and this has eased his pain, is that possible? Also with SCD you do have quite bad regressions in the first 12-18 months as the gut flora reorganises itself and we have found that has been ill quite a few times since we started. I do believe in the principle tho so I am going to stick with this.

I wonder if you could have Shane referred to a decent Gastroenterologist for further investigations. Also it may be that there is something in those supplements that you have stopped that hasnt been agreeing with him. If you are off them just now I would stay off them and try and have a look at re-introducing things really slowly.

I dont know anything about the Risperadone so cant comment there. Also none of this is Medical advice its just my opinions as a mummy with a gut kid!!

IMHO it so often comes back to the gut that all our kids should be routinely and properly screened on diagnosis. Please post more if we can help you. Hoping it continues to stay good.

Lotsa Luv
