This is fast turning into nightmare week, anyway, 's teacher wrote

in his home/school book today that his occupational therapist would be

phoning me to discuss reducing his therapy after the Easter break.

I can't understand this at all, she is paid by LEA as a result of

tribunal, why would she want to reduce his therapy or rather why would

I want it reduced?

Can she just state he doesn't need so much therapy anymore?

What questions do I need to ask her?

I'm really concerned because OT has made a huge difference to , he

loves his sessions and although he is doing well he is a long way from

being completely not in need of his SIT. He has only been having

therapy since September there has not been an annual review and to be

honest I would have expected LEA to try and reduce this come Sept but

not the therapist herself.

I'm really amazed and was not expecting this at all.

TIA

Vicky

Tell her all that. The lea has to pay her to do what the tribunal set

out. It's not up to her. She says she wants to discuss it. You want OT

and believe it is important to . You want it to continue. Maybe

someone has suggested reducing it to her and she is discussing it with

you. It may not be her idea at all. She maybe just following up a

suggestion, possibly just for administrative convenience. Reject it.

Keep a note of the contents of the call. If you feel that she is taking

a decision which you disagree with, ask her to put her position in

writing and write to her setting out yours.

Approach as if " clearly this isn't about 's needs because he is

getting SO MUCH out your sessions together.... " perhaps she is

ill/has family pressures or whatever. His needs, are his needs.

Don't panic but underline how MUCH HE NEEDS THIS TO HAPPEN. So if she

can't do it for a while, then someone to top it up to statement level

is clearly needed.

Sorry Vicky the last thing you need.
