Guest guest
I have eaten jersey bulls 3-4 years old and they were pretty tasty. Mine were 100% grass fed, but I know some people think you get a much better product by graining them for 6-8 weeks before butchering. I don’t so couldn’t tell you. www.Majesty Farm.com " Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has. I was wondering how far out people have gone and still eaten their bulls. We recently acquired a Jersey to " bat cleanup " . He is destined for the freezer after 2 months, and will be around 14 mos old. I have only raised steers before and they were always tender and great, I am wondering if I should plan on a lot of hamburger. Thanks,
Guest guest
The oldest we have butchered was about 5, I guess and a Shorthorn that had decided to go after one of our sons. Crappy heifers from him too. The only tough part was the flank which I had asked to be ground but they didn't. Now we cut up our own. I just cooked it a bit longer. Guest guest
We had a 5 yo bull butchered and ground up into hamburger and it was good,. We had a 12 yo cow butchered and we did have some steaks cut out of her and they were good but stronger. My husband loves strong meat tho. This is more a question about the bulls.
