Guest guest
Does anyone here have any resources or tips for calculating mineral requirements for organic dairy cows? I have not yet tested my forage, but would just like to know the base requirements, based on either weight, breed, or any other standard classification. Thanks,
Guest guest
Each animal and area of the country is different depending on what else is fed. If you have the money free choice kelp is great. You could also add in a dairy mineral from an organic company. www.fertrell.com is one such company. I am sure there are others There aren't any general rules as each animal is different and each farmer gets feed from differently mineralized soils. A salesman will of course tell you your cows need this ,. this and this. That may be true or it may not be. An analysis of what you currtently have available and any signs your cows are showing you will give you a place to start.
