Guest guest
Hi All, Just wanted to chime in about protein shakes and mixers. I've also had a lot of bad experiences with nasty tasting protein powder! I currently have Beverly protein, which isn't bad. I read so many good reviews about it that I really wanted to try it. A lot of people said it tasted like cake batter and could eat it right from the jug! I can't say I agree with that, but it isn't bad and will probably mix well with fruits. It does mix nice and smooth. It's more expensive and used to be harder to find, so I don't know if I will buy it again. I really, really like the chocolate varieties of EAS and Met- rx meal replacement powder (MRP) shakes. But, those also cost more than protein powder and I've read blogs of people who can't stand the taste and thickness of those two, so I guess it's pretty individual. I've heard good things about Carolyn's Whey Gourmet brand and also about Dymatize brand, but haven't tried either one yet. The Beverly stuff I have will last quite a while, and I also have some EAS MRPs to get through as well. I have piles of shake recipes so I'll upload some to the files area when I get a chance to organize them a bit better. I do usually add a half serving of fiber one to my shakes, as it's a nice little fiber boost (~7 grams fiber for 30 cals) and you can't really taste it very much. This site is handy for nutrition info, and used to have very good prices and very fast service. But it's been a while since I ordered and done price checks. But, it's really great if you want nutrition info on just about any supplement! http://www.netrition.com/ On the magic bullet, I have the QVC version and have been pretty happy with – Turbo Chopper, it's called. They offer one option with less parts, so if you don't need so many cups and things it's a little cheaper. I will say that the cups are smaller than I expected. When I make a MRP, I usually have to do it in half, otherwise it's just too full and makes a mess when I open it. Anyway, just my random thoughts...
