Guest guest
, I just got P90X the other day and so far I watched Disks 1 and 2. I could not believe that the entire hour (with Disk 1) is spent on push ups and pull ups. How good were you with pull ups before you started doing P90X? I can crank out some good-form push ups but I can't unassisted pull ups yet. Alena To: bodyforlifewomensclub2 From: simbajoy@... Guest guest
My favorite is Legs & Back. I couldn't do any pull-ups when I started P90X and when I finished I could do 1.5 pullups and 5 chinups at a time. Guest guest
Alena, I had to get bands because I am much weaker up top than I thought I was. I did half a pull up the first time around and the second time around I could do *1*!! I skipped doing the pushups all together because I just didn't feel up to it! I will do them next week and picked up the little push up bars a few days ago. So far I'm loving all of the workouts and especially plyometrics!!! I could not get through power yoga, but I was able to get through most of the ab workout the second time around! Yeah! _____________________________ Brown www.andreabrownphotography.com RE: I need a good multivitamin , I just got P90X the other day and so far I watched Disks 1 and 2. Guest guest
I get mine at Whole Foods or the local vitamin shop. Solgen is a good brand, Rainbow Natural, Now, Super Nutrition and the like. I home cook for my dogs, they get Centrum :-P > I've been doing P90X for almost 2 weeks now and my energy is zapped! > > Can someone recommend a good multivitamin please! Guest guest
, This post sent me down a crazy rabbit hole of vitamin shopping. :-) I still haven't bought anything. Did you get the Vitamin Code? Did you get the women's formula? Are they massive horse pills that you're supposed to take 8 times per day? Since I've been a very veganish eater lately, and everybody tells me I'll surely die of some deficiency, I thought I'd better look into a super duper high-quality vitamin. Guest guest
I take Women's plus Multistart by Dr. Murray produced by Natural factors. You can get the one with Iron in it I don't because I need to take much more I'm anemic. So he put me on this concoction of vitamins and I would have never believed it but I had spotted for over a year and was very anemic they were saying get a hysterectomy. My family physician told me to take this multivitamin (yes 6 horse pills I take all at once at night), Omega 3 RX, greens, iron (I'm anemic only do what is in a normal vitamin unless directed otherwise), and extra vitamin C (helps iron absorb). It took 4 months but I have not spotted since and have kept my anemia in an acceptable range. So I am actually a believer in supplements now but am still very careful as to what I take. Guest guest
, (Sorry, I'm catching up on piles of emails after my three-week binge--I mean, trip to the States. Oops.) Re: P90X, I have been on it for a couple months now, and there's a HUGE difference in what I can do from what I could do before I started! You just have to stick with it and do as much as you can. I can almost do a chin-up now, whereas a couple months ago I could barely hang with bent arms. Re: vitamins, I've been really happy with GNC's Active Vitapack for Women. I can feel an energy difference for sure. But it's without iron, for some reason (anyone have a logical explanation for that, out of curiosity?), so you might need to add that. Cheers, Janine > > I've been doing P90X for almost 2 weeks now and my energy is zapped! > > Can someone recommend a good multivitamin please! I'd like to pick something up today. Guest guest
Hah! Janine, Seeing that you are another P90X victim, I have a question for you. I haven't started yet, I haven't even had a chance to watch all the DVD's but I noticed that if you follow the Classic workouts, you do Chest & Back on Day 1 and then Shoulders & Arms on Day 3. Since the Chest & Back looks extremely brutal and since I am one of those people with delayed onset of muscle soreness, do you think it would be a big deal if I did something else on Day 3 instead and left Shoulders & Arms for Day 4? I need to have at least 2 days in between. Or do you know if there is a specific reason for the order in which the workouts are " prescribed " ? thanks Alena To: bodyforlifewomensclub2 From: jslaga2002@... Guest guest
They alternate the workouts and the Leg workout is Legs & Back, so you want to break up the back workouts. Guest guest
Alena, I also think the chest portion (with all the Rocky pushups!) is way more than I am capable of. I stick it in once in a while, and just do the few reps that I can. But since I'm then not burning all the calories I should be, I often do the Arms and Shoulders routine instead. (It's still a break from Legs and Back that way.) And then I'll add some push-ups with variations that I can handle, just to get a little pec work in. I've been working my butt off with P90X, but I'm totally addicted to it, and it WORKS. Enjoy! -Janine

Guest guest
You hear about antioxidants, well, iron is an oxidant (think rust). A little is healthy and necessary but too much can inflame and damage arteries and actually raise heart attack risk. That's why you won't see iron in vitamin formulas for men or post-menopausal women. If a general multivitamin formula does include iron, it's usually not much. Some people may need supplemental iron if they have anemia, or heavy periods, or donate blood (blood loss = iron loss), but because of the heart risks, and because most people aren't deficient, it doesn't make sense to put it in most multivitamins. > > Re: vitamins, I've been really happy with GNC's Active Vitapack for Women. > I can feel an energy difference for sure.
