When I saw " I am a real person " I had a momentary spam attack and headed for

the delete button, but then I remembered you. :-) That is one crazy rough

year! Congratulations on turning things around and focusing on a positive

future. I wish you much success with your business and your BFL challenge.

You should maybe put your distributor link in the signature file of your

e-mails. That way people can see it when you post, and they can check out

the products, but you won't get called out as a crazy spammer.

Congratulations on your progress so far. Keep us posted!

Thanks for not deleting me, I was a little worried that I would get

This statement and a few other things jumped out at me from your post.

Not that you asked, but I think he needs a kick in the butt to get out

there and get a job, ANY job that will help you pay the mortgage on

your house (that you bought TOGETHER!). You may not need a third job,

but you may need a new fiance. ;-)

I'm sorry to chime in here...as I haven't written in a couple months....but I

just wanted to say to Chandra that if this feels like a red flag...then take it

to heart. My sister sure wished she had!!! Her fiance was the same way, but

she figured it was just a down time for him ...and if she just gave him the

emotional support he needed, he'd be able to find the perfect job for him. They

married and she was the sole supporter for most of their 20 years of marriage

as- he kept getting fired from every job he had (which ofcourse took him forever

to find those jobs as he was so particular re. his worth).

The day after Christmas last year, after her husband accepted all the gifts and

money from our family - he told her he'd " found his soulmate " - it was her best

friend. Both he and her best friend left their spouses that night and moved in

together, leaving my sister and their 2 boys, aged 9 and 11. They've been

divorced for nearly a year now (and he still lives with her ex-best friend - I

wonder when she'll figure out that the pattern he had with my sister is

continuing with her). It is in their divorce decree that he doesn't have to pay

child support until he gets a job. My sister wanted him to be able to get on

his feet first. He still hasn't paid a dime of child support - because he

" refuses to get a job that pays him less than he is worth. " And for some reason

- he truly believes that is a good enough reason not to pay a dime towards

helping raise his children. He does still see them, but ALL the expenses fall

on her.

Him not having a job when they got married was a HUGE red flag for my sister,

our parents and all of us.......but she was " in love " and she wanted to be

married...so she ignored the red flags (which she will say herself)...she didn't

realize his before marriage choices were indicative of what her entire marriage

- and divorce would be like. After a year of dealing with this, the family joke

is - " don't even date him unless he has a good job " ....and that is towards my

three girls as well.

Her ex was so put off by her success and his lack of it that duirng their

entire marriage he demeaned her every opportunity he got. Publicly and

privately. Through example, he taught his boys to do the same. It's been a

long year while our dad has been the main male influence in the kids lives and

teaching them the respect men and kids should give to women and adults. My

sister is now dating an amazing man now who treats her like a the wonderful

woman she is - something her husband NEVER did. We are so happy to see her glow

like she's never done before. She is a different person now!!! She's alive

again!!!

Your fiance may be different. But I can tell you this - the guy my sister is

dating now - his position was cut the day after his divorce was final. He ended

up taking 3 different menial jobs while trying to find a new career job -

because he wouldn't allow himself to shirk his responsibilities with child

support! THAT is the kind of man I want for my sister!

PLEASE consider carefully if you want to spend the rest of your life with a man

who is okay with you working 3 jobs to support the both of you while he sits on

his a__ waiting for a job that will " pay him what he's worth " . YOU are worth

more than that.

Sorry...soapbox...remember...don't marry a man just because you love him. Marry

him because you can't live without him...and because you know he'll be an

amazing father and role model for your future children. I've never been more

appreciative of my husband than I have been this last year - and he, I. We

don't live the high life, but he's ALWAYS been able to support me and our 4

children....and he sets an amazing example as a father. My 16 year old son

treats me like a queen - and I give his father much of the credit for that!

oy vey...I hope I haven't offended you....feel free to take what you like and

throw the rest out!

Oh Chandra...I just read your entire story!!! Oh my gosh, what a hard

year....could your fiance be depressed. I know I sure would be if I'd lost both

my parents in an accident. Bipolar is a tough thing to deal with...and becoming

stable is a process. I hope for the best with your father!!!!

Have a great day!

ps...one last thing....check out your local NAMI - National Alliance on Mental

Illness. It's designed for the loved ones of those with mental illness. They

have great resources and probably a support group in your area.

I'll add a big " ditto " to everything that wrote. I know THREE

women who could have written the same post joni did, and guess what?

Years later, the women are still working their asses off while the lazy

jerks sat around doing NOTHING, not even helping to clean up the house

or take care of the kids. (Well, two of them--the third one FINALLY got

divorced after letting him sponge off of her for a couple of decades.

I'M SOOOOO PROUD OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And btw...they all think the

counselor says their fine...I don't think he's lying...I think they really

believe that! It always amazes me what my husband hears and what I hear. Is

that a man thing?????

Oh...I can't even begin to tell you how proud I am of you for taking a stand

before it's too late. I'll never forget when my husband told me that my

brother in law said to a guy with them (on the golfcourse no less) - " Hey, I

know a good thing when I see it...I won't be messin up this gig! " It was a year

later that he " moved on " .

He tried to think he was a stay at home dad - but he hired someone to clean the

house, had a weekly yard service and was in some sort of a club that he paid for

to get his car washed every week. And either my sister cooked after work or

they went out. I know he enjoyed his golf game...but other than that - none of

us really knows what he did...well, in the end we figured it out....But

slothfulness isn't good for any of us...it makes us look for our self worth in

all the wrong places (for me...that would be FOOD!).

Way to go Chandra!!!

ps...I'll try to get to the survey this weekend...goodnight!

Hi, Chandra -

I'm real, too, except I think I've been lurking the whole time I've been

on this board. I haven't " made the decision " yet, so while quietly

gleaning encouragement from the wonderful folks on this forum, I haven't

had anything to offer.

Until now...

I had a very tough time deciding if I'd accept a marriage proposal from

my man, and a friend gave me the BEST ADVICE EVER:

" There is nothing wrong with a long engagement. If things don't work

out, it's much easier to end an engagement than a marriage. "

Congratulations for putting a hold on things for now. Suffice to say,

it worked for me (I called things off a MONTH beforehand, and asked for

a year to get my ducks in a row). You'll have your own reasons to give,

none of which need to be " his " fault. Meanwhile, spend the time

watching him, to see what he does. If you'll already be holding down

the fort alone, commit yourself to doing so for a fixed amount of time.

After then, you can get a roommate, and more importantly...get an

attorney to draw up a financial partnership agreement for the house. If

you're making the payments, it'll be kind of easy to buy out your

fiance, if ya'll don't make it.

Or, you could have my luck, and fiance will realize that you're a gem,

get off his butt, and do the right thing. [;)]

My two cents~

Beth C.

P.S. HI, everyone!
