Guest guest
burned about 350 calories between the walk/run and the strength/stretch workout. Great workout . I've told myself over and over that I'm going to do a workout like that, but always go back to my workout DVD's. ~*~ ~*~Get trade secrets for amazing burgers. Guest guest
nancy, glad you had a nice run!! especially when it wasn't planned:) stacey > > Literally 5 minutes before I walked out the door, I decided to go running today! My kids are done with school Friday and there are no thunderstorms predicted until this afternoon so I spontaneously decided to take advantage of the time I had and " just do it. " However, I'd dressed to do weights, meaning I'd put on cross trainers, not running shoes and when I bent down to tighten my laces before I got started, I realized that very quickly. I decided to go ahead with it anyway. It was okay but I'd have much preferred to have running shoes on, I can really feel the difference. Besides that, I was a LOT more intelligent than the last time I tried running. I did the 3 mile path I used last time but had a plan to walk (fast, heartrate in the moderate zone) 1/2 mile and then jog 2/10ths of a mile (the path is marked in 1/10th of mile increments), then repeat that cycle. The first run interval I got my heart rate way up but was going at a mostly slow pace. The 2nd time I opened up my stride and really worked it and wow, did that feel different. I could really feel the jarring. It felt good in some ways and was a bit unnerving (because I was concerned about the effect on my joints) too. I did that interval cycle for the first 2 miles and then I noticed my right hip and knee bothering me and my right thigh tightening a bit so I slowed down to a low moderate pace, then further slowed to a very gentle pace to baby it a bit. By the last 1/2 mile I was able to get back up to a fast walking pace and finished that way. I stretched for a long time afterwards (holding most stretches at least 30 seconds) and feel good now. My right hip and knee are a bit sore but not terribly. I might take some ibuprofen later if it seems necessary. When I got home, I still wanted some weight work (today was planned as a circuit day) and also wanted to do the core workout from the 10 Minute Solution Stability Ball Workouts DVD (the last one I needed to try out). So I did that one, plus the upper body workout (love it!) and the stretch (yum!) from that DVD. The core workout was good but I've done others that length that felt like they were doing more for me. I felt GREAT when I got done though! > > I burned about 350 calories between the walk/run and the strength/stretch workout. > > Off to eat lunch, I hope everyone is having wonderful workouts today! > > >

Guest guest
Thanks ! I know what you mean! I probably would have gone out a few weeks ago but my DVDs are a comfort zone for me and I needed that more than the challenge of running. I'm okay to step out (literally I guess) for now.
