Hi ,

It is likely that this person does have CMT, but just a kind that does not

show many symptoms for her - everyone has different pronouncement of

symptoms due to our own genetic make up.

I would have never thought that I had CMT because I have walked marathons

before - but I do have it and physical activity is just one thing I am able

to do alongside of my CMT.

I do however (somewhat) agree with the aide - stretching is vital, maybe not

as a long term prevention or to stop progress, but to keep the muscles

loose. We use different muscles when we walk - I use my hip flexors a lot

rather than quads - and not stretching means we get very tight and this

makes me for one more uncomfortable - I feel unable to walk sometimes when I

don't stretch often enough.

Rather than complain about the aide, why not talk to her and get her on your

side. It is awesome that there can be role models for kids with CMT in

schools - she is trying to help, and by talking with you she will become

better at helping and in the future benefit even more people. Who knows,

maybe she is looking for some support too?

All the best from London (and off I go to find my gym kit to go to stretch

class after work!),

Donna
