Hello

Our daughters saw a PT today and she requested an orthotist(SP?)

to evaluate their feet.

He said the 7 year old was OK but the 15 yr old should have night

braces to stretch out the hamstring and achilles tendon and possibly

a support for her shoe.

Our 15 yr old was observed to have tightness in the back of her leg

upon examination in one leg more than another.

He said if you think finding shoes is difficult now , wait till you

get the orthotic!!

We do not over discuss in front of the children and have requested

that they discuss any findings with me seperately. I want to

preserve their childhood and make it as normal as posible. I do not

burden them with all the details.

I told the PT and orthotist I would not do anything untill I spoke

to the Orthopedist.

I watched my daughters face and it would wound her spirit to be put

this situation without knowing it would change her situation.

Does any one have any insight into this topic ?

Her feet do not bother her. She does have a mild scoliosis about 15

degrees and some mild hip uneveness.

These therapists are not familiar with CMT. They just look at the

symptoms and make their own judgements.

Where do I need to take my daughters to have them evaluated by

people who are knowledgeable about CMT

I will not tolerate anyone experimenting on them.

Thank You Tammy
