Hi Jo,

The Bursitis is only temporary. I had it years ago, and was given one

of the anti-inflammatory medications. I also used moist heat on it (was

in my shoulder) and rest and in about 12 days felt a marked improvement.

One of the best anti-inflammatories here is Naprosyn, also known as

Anaprox (you can look up those 2 and see if there is something similiar

in the UK) Here, the over-the-counter " Alleve " is the same stuff, just

a weaker version. Something like an anti-inflammatory medication is far

better than a Darvocet/Percocet derivative, and also no addiction

potential.

As for the arthritis, it can be helped, and you can be more

comfortable - it is also possible that an anti-inflammatory medication

can help with that. I hope you can get back to the pool and have the

gym staff teach you some of the exercises that are given for arthritis;

like hip/leg extensions/stretches (gently) side-stepping, etc.

Hello Gretchen,

Thanks a lot about this email. The bursitis has being for more than 2 years now,

I even had injections twice and keep coming back Gretchen.

I will have a look at those pain killers and will talk to my doctor

next Friday.

The doctor told me in Brazil I have now osteo-arthritis on both hips

and definitely I will need some good physiotherapy this time. It is funny why so

suddenly I got so bad with my hips. Remember also I did fall down while I was in

Brazil, but everything it was ok afterwards I thought ....but now I just don't

know anymore. Now, my walk looks really funny, strange gait, hard to describe it

to you.

I feel while walking a lot of pain and discomfort and need stopping

quite often because it is hard to carry on my body somehow...feels

heavy. I will see soon why I go so bad like that.

Do you think it is because I did not exercise for those 3 months

Gretchen?

Well, I am exercise again, this time slowly , 3 times a week only

and at home I do the exercise bike too...Once more , many thanks for your

advice.Have a great day out there!

Take Care

Joana
