Guest guest
My experience with drinking alcoholic beverages is it causes me to have a major episode of numbness in my feet. Over five years ago I could enjoy an occasional glass of wine with dinner. One day the glass of wine caused my feet to have major numbness for several hours, later my normal level of sensation returned to my feet within 6 hours or so. I also tried just a couple of sips of wine on a later date. Again my feet had additional numbness for a period of a few hours, similar to the feeling of having novocaine wear off after dental work. Due to this progression of my CMT, I no longer drink any alcoholic beverages. Donna
Guest guest
I had nerve pain from CMT that was not addressed by physicians, so when I found alcohol, well, now THAT helped me 'manage' the pain. And the rest is history, as you know. Fortunately I did not do major nerve damage during my 'alcohol years' and a healthy lifestyle physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually has been a great benefit to managing my CMT. Still, for me and alcohol, as with life, everything is only One Day at a Time. http://www.mdausa.org/publications/Quest/q114subabuse.cfm ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
That's terrible. I don't like the pain meds my Doctor prescribed so when things are really bad and Advil doesn't take enough of an edge off the pain so it's managable, I have a drink or three. It's not very often and the pain has to be really bad (usually goes along with a horrendous day at work) but I do look forward to the couple hours of peace and couldn't imagine it having the opposite effect. That would suck. Hope
