Do the whole 20 minutes. There will always be a point (or a dozen points) in

the workout where you feel like you can't possibly finish. When you conquer

the doubt, push through the fatigue, silence the nagging little voice

telling you to quit, and FINISH ANYWAY, that is hitting a 10. It's not a

number on a heart rate monitor. Suck it up and run for it. People here often

describe that final 10 as - you couldn't possibly move any faster if a

hungry lion or a maniac with a butcher knife were chasing you. When you

finish you should be panting, drenched in sweat, beet red and weirdly

euphoric.

Here's the scoop on heart rate zones:

http://www.skwigg.com/id10.html

If you're healthy, no heart problems, and you've been cleared by your doctor

to exercise vigorously, your goal is to peg your heart rate for the last few

seconds. This 10-hitting is going to be vastly different for everybody

depending on what kind of shape you're in. For some people walking at a

brisk pace will be enough to nearly wipe them out. Other people may have to

sprint, jump rope, or run stairs to get the same effect. Perceived exertion

is usually a much better indicator than a heart rate monitor for judging

your levels. Heart rate formulas are only estimates and they can be wildly

off, especially for older exercisers in great shape.

You'll likely never hurt as much as you did the first week. The first week

is a killer, but yes, you should be striving to increase your weights a

little bit with every workout. The first sets of 12 and 10 serve as sort of

a warm-up. They should be challenging, but no doubts that you'll finish

them. By the time you get to the sets of 8 and 6 the weights should be very

heavy. It should be a serious muscle-shaking challenge to get the last two

reps in. Maybe you don't always get them. If you're challenging yourself,

the muscle may fail a rep or two early. No problem, you'll get it next time.

And pretty soon that weight will start feeling easy and it will be time to

increase again. If you're doing your weights and stopping at the prescribed

number, but the muscle feels like it could keep going for many more reps,

you know you're lifting too light.

It also helps to know that serious soreness comes from doing something

you're totally not used to. It's not just a matter of increasing the

weights. Changing exercises will make you more sore than lifting heavier on

a move you've been doing for a long time. That's why it's important to

change up your routine and switch exercises at least every 4 weeks.

,

Thank you for all of your feedback. I am taking it all too heart and now know

that I need to kick my work out up a notch. I think that I was trying to take

the easy way out on the heart rate monitor. Even though my HR was in the 180's

I still felt ok. I know now that I should keep going until I hit that point.

Thank you again,

Elise

Hi

Starting the chelation journey and would appreciate your views/advice. Son 4.5yo has done hair test wish high probability of mercury toxicity.

Only done the probiotics so far and would like to start vitamin supplements - believe Super Nu-thera from Kirksmans is good.

Look forward to following your posts.

Best wishes

Kirk mans do sell trial packs, but you may only be able to get those in the US. I am just sorting out how to get him to take b6 again now! it is a long journey, we started a year ago in May, but we will be getting the wine out to celebrate as we have our son back again, still on the journey but the future is looking good :)

>>>Actually I have a bag of Kirkman samples here left over from our conference - its mostly Calcium powder and tabs but there are some bags with powder SNT and maybe some caps too - I could look those out for you and send if you wnat to try them - let me know what you are after - anybody else for that matter.

There is no Zinc, DMG or TMG because I already looked for those for somebody else. There is some of the chewable mutli - they are nice and tasty - I already have them & use them for my NT's who are very resistant to any supps at all, so if anybody wants to try any of the smaples I have them let me know

Hi , I believe the advice regarding chelation is to heal the

gut as much as you can before trying chelation. Starting with

vitimins and minerals, then gut healing supplements and consider

omega 3 as well as dmg or tmg. The Treating Autsim web site has lots

of infomation on it. We had supa nu thera to start with, also

4 yrs & 5 months took it to begin with but does not want it now, the

worst tasting vitimin is b6, so most things with a mega dose will not

be too good. Kirk mans do sell trial packs, but you may only be able

There seems to be nothing on my father's side of the family. My grandma's mom, on my mother's side of the family, was a heavy woman with low BP. She would faint a lot. After her husband died, she lost a lot of weight and had high BP. She died of a stroke. She also had 13 kids. I'm not quite sure that relates to hyperaldosteronism.

My grandpa's sister, also on my mom's side of the family, had heart problems. Something was mentioned about a mitro valve. She died in her 50's. My grandpa's other sister, also died in her 50's of a heart attack. Both sisters had pace makers. Their brother had heart problems as well. That is the best anyone can tell me.

I am 5'3 and never had swelling, heart palpitations until almost 2 years ago. It came on suddenly. I swelled 20-25 pounds in 3 days. I'm a big water drinker. Drank from a water softener. It dehydrated me to the point where I drank a few gallons in the 3 days. Didn't know salt was in it until after the swelling occurred. The more I drank, the less I had to pee. My bladder felt full, but I couldn't go. It would be about a tablespoon if I had measured it at the time, color of mountain dew. I had suspected gaining a few pounds about 2-3 weeks prior to this. Haven't been able to eat foods with sodium since this happened. I get the same reaction to juice low in sodium.

Should get my MRI results tomorrow.

Hi,

I'm new to this group. It's nice to find a group of people who've experienced the strange symptoms I have!

My doctor diagnosed me with hyperaldosteronism last week. I will tell my story another time. I will be getting the results of my MRI, on my adrenals, this week. It's been almost two years since I had a bad reaction to salt, fluid retention unable to pee, muscle and nerve spasms, sweating reduced by about

70-85 % and well, it's a long list.

Thought it might be important to mention, my aldosterone levels came back normal over a year. I was on a low sodium diet when my endo ran some tests, about 0-250mg of sodium a day. Only once I stopped taking birth control pills, Loestrin 24, my aldosterone test results came back high, K on the low end, but not out of range. I'm still on a low sodium diet. Can't DASH. The liquid in fruits and vegetables makes me swell and then I can't pee much. Oh, aldosterone range was 28 or lower for 8-10AM, mine was 63 around 2 months ago. I had another plasma aldosterone test done, was taken 4-6PM so the range changes, 21 or lower, mine was 78. I'm only in my mid-20's. I read somewhere online that estrogen and progesterone can interfere with this test.

Get the K to normal and BP down using spiro or epelerenone and DASHing. The most likely cause is heart enlargement that has "outgrown the blood supply" so reducing heart size will get things back into balance.I can this the HANG syndrome or hypertensive angina.CE GrimCan anyone that has had the chest spasms with the PA tell me something they have done that helps them. you will never die of heart attack then. Suspect you also never smoked, have a good cholesterol and a good family Hx ( no med with MI before 55 W before 65)???or you choose the right grandparents and fed your genome right.I had the 64 slice CT scan for any blockage. All clear. Several EKG's all good. Nuclear stress test. All good. And a holter monitor. No I never smoked. But I have two brothers both had quad bi-pass before the age of 50 and my Dad died at the age of 47 with a heart attack. My Mother had no heart problems, but was a smoker and had COPD. My oldest son has hemochromatosis (diag @ 27) and I suspect my Dad could have had that since he was also diabetic. And I am a carried. I've tried to eat healthy and exercise as not to follow in the paths that my brothers have gone through.

Thank you so much for your help. I will be tested in about 3 wks for PA. Without this group and the information I have received from here that might not have been possible. > > Subject: Re: New to group> To: hyperaldosteronism > Date: Friday, August 27, 2010, 3:11 PM> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > When you say the

Hmm. You are for sure beating your genome it would appear. Assuming you are not adopted ;-) And your dad and brothers did not smoke? or eat lots of good old meats?Even with the worst high chol families those who some delay heart disease by 20 years. Keep up the good work.CE grim MDNo I never smoked. But I have two brothers both had quad bi-pass before the age of 50 and my Dad died at the age of 47 with a heart attack. She said she has chest pains and shortness of breath. I had all the work-ups for

heart problems and all was normal. All they found was a low K. She is having

what she calls chest spasms.

You say the most likely cause is heart enlargement. I believe an echo would show

this as well as other things like blood flow and heart muscle problems.

Would an echo in this case show any thig that the CT didn't?
