Guest guest
, Even way back in the CMTI newsletter in the 1980's, Dilantin (Phenytoin) was on the Toxic Medication list. Here's a few reasons I know of: in people with CMT it can cause nervousness, muscle twitching/tremors and most important, difficulty coordinating body movements. (balance problems) Second to that, Dilantin has some bad interractions with other medications: Tylenol, Advil, antacids, blood thinners, valium, depression medications, contraceptives, sedatives, Vitamin B6 and tranquilizers. ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
Like my mother needs more problems She's going to see the neurologist who prescribed it for her next week and I'm going with her so we'll talk to him about it. Funny though that two different neurologists that she sees KNOWS that she's on Dilantin and that she has CMT but didn't see any problems with it. I probably didn't notice it before because no one I knew was taking it.
Guest guest
When I asked the neuro about it, he didn't say very much. I will be seeing him again on monday but am seriously having doubts about Drs right now. I feel like I keep swimming upstream, its extremely frustrating!! thanks for your help Lenore
