How does Vitamin C help CMT?

In short, the 2004 French research project proved that Vitamin C could

totally arrest (meaning STOP) CMT 1A. This was done using 30

generations of mice. Look in our Files section for the entire research

paper.

However, it remains to be seen if Vitamin C/Ascorbic Acid research in

humans would give the same good indications. Mice can synthesize

Vitamin C, humans can't, which is why those people taking 'C' have to

continue taking it.

And secondly, waiting for 30 generations of human research on CMT 1A is

too long.

The newest clinical trial on Vitamin C is going on now in the

Netherlands, on a small group of young people, all with a CMT 1A

diagnosis. Results will not be out until the trial closes November

2007. There are several other European trials ongoing at this time, but

no research results published yet. USA trials are pending on funding

from MDA.
