Guest guest Posted March 7, 2006 Report Share Posted March 7, 2006 Hello all, Got my Athena results today. I've got duplication of the 22 gene, so it's CMT 1A. Funny how I'm 33 and could barely wait the 15 minutes for the fax to come through. I'm hoping it will help my disability application as it shows definitive proof of my challenges. I'm also relieved to have a diagnosis- it's not in my head I knew it wasn't, but still. More good news, the essay I wrote about my CMT experience over the past months will probably be published in our local newspaper, which will also be posted online at www.theunion.com. An editor read it online on my website at http://www.lenkaland.com/CharcotMarieTooth.htm. She's willing to pay me $50 and may be able to help set up freelance opportunities as well. So I'm helping get the word out there. Not sure when the publication date will be- I'll let you know. Daughter wants to paint.
