Guest guest
Dennis, First, the EMG/NCV studies can distinguish between CMT Types 1 and 2. As for subtypes within each type, you may wish to have the DNA blood test. You can have your doctor contact Athena Diagnostics for the information for the blood draw and find out more. Second, Peripheral Neuropathy is NOT CMT. CMT is known as a 'type' of peripheral neuropathy, but you need to know that Peripheral Neuropathy is also in persons with Diabetes, HIV, other hereditary neuropathies and also acquired neuropathies. I would really encourage you to talk to informed medical professionals about this, as sometimes support groups promote wrong information. You may be interested in the new CMT group in Oregon that is starting. She's a winner, very educated in CMT and has a good head with correct information. ~ Gretchen
