Guest guest
I have a question for anyone about the sumo deadlift. I practice sumo actually more than I do conventional except for the six week period before a meet. I can sumo about fifty pounds less than conventional although I seem to be just as strong either way. The reason is my lockout. My hands are always spaced inside the legs and when I lockout my right hand is with the palm facing inward toward the body and the other hand the opposite. What happens is that when I get upward toward maximal weight I tend to drag the upper part of my right thumb against my thigh and get hung up on the fabric of my suit. This causes me to be unable to lockout a weight that I have pulled nearly to lockout. Does anyone else have this problem and how did you overcome it? Any suggestions would be appreciated as I feel I should be more effective as a sumo lifter than conventional. Thanks in advance. Eddie White Blue Springs, MO.
