scoby quesion

Hello,

I just completed my first batch! Very excited, but not sure about my scoby.

First of all I had read to use some cider vinegar with the first batch

because I didn't have enough starter tea. Well I used my raw apple cider

vinegar and later read somewhere else not to use raw. Not sure if that

really does make a difference, but what I also read is the " baby " should be

on top of the mother but it was below. And the mother has A LOT of brown

yeast growing on it. Maybe a picture would help? Not sure what I've done

here...any help would be appreciated.
