Guest guest
Good grief no Tracey, think I mentioned this to you before, you are handing them evidence, he who pays the piper, they will probably want to do their own one anyway but your own report is essential. When we went to tribunal the reason we got OT with SI was because at that time County did not have an "expert" so did not have their own assessment or report for tribunal, this is seen as not contesting and therefore our report was taken as agreed. Vicky Re: Re: OT - Ed Psych... A question. I am about to pay for a private ed Psych and have now been offered a local authority one... should I say yes please to the local authority one so we have a comparison if we end up taking a legal route? Many thanks Tracey She also visits the school setting as well as the home included in her price as long as the school is not miles away from the home. Marina x HI Isobel I have made an appointment for her to review our son 16 NT with fine motor skill issues and struggling at school. We see her on 20th November... so can report back then.. She sounds lovely on the phone and definately in the corner of the child and the childs needs.. She seems to be working in the State and Private school network.. She is now based between Kings Lynn and Fakenham in Norfolk. I think her name carries a lot of weight with the county councils in this area...so it is a valuable investment for us... Cost about £430 .. and at that price she also does all the paper work for access to higher education and applying for additional time etc.. which is brilliant for us. She says it will take up to 4 weeks for her report to reach us. Tracey hi vicky what can you tell me about isobel pilkilton? as she has been suggested by my lawyer.. did you win what borough are you in?all the best Isobel > > > > Hi, > > Can anybody recommend a good indpendent Ed Psych. > I've searched the archives, but doesn't seem to be much around. > > Cheers, > Elaine >

Guest guest
Thanks Margaret. We will definately be using the private lady... I have asked for an LA one too... if they say no they have agreed to use info from Isobel .. I guess that she is well known to them. Tracey Be careful. LA ones are not independent and may skew their advice to what the LA has locally. Also, whatever testing they carry out can't be repeated within 6 months , so if the LA one tests first and then you hire a private one, they may have their hands tied to some extent because aertain assessment tools won't be available to them. Guest guest
Thanks Vicky This is a very interesting process.. clearly every child only matters after the needs of LEA and county council and the feelings and emotions of all the adults have been taken into account and allowances made... Fascinating... Must sing the praises of Speaking Up advocates.. lovely meeting with them yesterday... they will shortly rename themselves to Voiceability... Guest guest
Tracey people like Speech therapists, OT's etc are contracted out to the LA, I have never come across one case yet where they have suggested anything outside what is already provided, actually they are far more likely to say the child needs less than they are currently receiving. EP's are the same by and large, the best one we ever got fro LA was a non committal report neither siding with us or them. Think about it are the LA going to pay someone to agree with you and disagree with them? It's all about money, budgets are all that matters. Vicky Re: Re: OT - Ed Psych... A question. Guest guest
It is really sad, as where children are given appropriate educational support they actually in the long term require less... This sort of shorttermism is rife in the NHS.. My sister got shouted at for ordering a blood test.. .. If she had not ordered this blood test the patient would probably have been misdiagnosed or would only have had the treatment started at a stage too late to save them....
