Guest guest
today, and EACH one knocked me over,,,,the motel office smelled of mold, and 2 of the rooms had carpeting installed new in July.....eyes burned in 5 sec's. Geeee, my chemical sensi. are bad news now!!! I went to realter today to check MLS to see if houses/condos came up with wooden floor/tile....but nope...have to search EACH listing separately....same for rentals...personally, I don't think " fate " has anything to do with my sickhouse issue....it was " allowed to happen to test my faith....I truly believe that, but won't start on that subject to offend anyone. My lifespan may be shortened, but I believe there is a reason for all this! Dread thinking about finding a decent place and moving in and 6 mos later...boom...same issue...and some of you have MOVED " several " times in ONE YEAR! Guess I better rent and not buy again....least I'll have just 30 day notice to give. Steve
Guest guest
Steve, you don't even need to go inside many apartments. You can just drive around in areas and look for apartment buildings with for rent sign and if they have those 'mold boxes' handing on windows you know they will be moldy (unless they have hardwood or tile floors, then you may have a chance). However most buildings that were built to be apartments have carpeting. It's mostly old buildings that have been converted into apartments that are likely to have hardwood floors. Look for air conditioner condensors outside of building. If they have those, they have central air and heat. They still may be moldy but you have a better chance. Also look for through the wall units, that look like 'registers' or vent through wall. They are also mold factories. If they have wall or window a/c units, ask anyone around building that lives there, if units are carpeted. Window a/c and carpeting in my experience is a bad combination. The a/c unit sprays carpet with mold spores that cannot be cleaned up. If window a/c sprays hard flooring with mold spores, cleaning floors can pick spores up and prevent infestation of apartment. Even the apartments with central a/c have small inexpensive units with a not so hot filter but seem to be better than the window kind and you 'may' be able to buy a better filter for it. I know it sounds expensive and is but Marriott 'Residence Inn' has central a/c's for all room. They do have 'extended' rates that are cheaper than short stays. They offer a real breakfast, not just rolls and juice, and a buffet in the evening except for weekends which sometimes has hotdogs and hamburgers or bbq, etc, nothing fancy. --- In , " shybasset " <shybasset@...> wrote: > > today, and EACH one knocked me over,,,,the motel office smelled of > mold, and 2 of the rooms had carpeting installed new in July.....eyes >
