Guest guest
Just a quick word of warning ... essential oils should never be used in a product above 3%, and that is too much for some EOs. So ... the absolute most EO that should ever be used per POUND of product is .5 oz. Anything higher is just too much. Sorry to be a bummer, but EO safety is very important. They smell so good and do so much good that it's easy to forget how potent they are!! Having said that, I'll also say that if you buy your TTO off the shelf at Walgreens or Wal-Mart, chances are it's already so diluted that using 1 tablespoon per cup is perfectly fine. Just thought I'd share. My TTO and Rosemary soap is also a great seller and is awesome for acne-prone skin. I love TTO and use it many, many products, but am careful to keep it diluted below 3%. Pamela Reilly Pleasing Odors Creations www.pleasingodors.com Re: First Aid Soap My most used, bought & requested soap is my tea tree soap. I make it out of clear melt and pour base, one Tablespoon of Tea Tree essential oil per cup of melted soap base. I fine grind some calendula petals in a coffee grinder, and add a pinch of that in there, too. The resulting soap is a nice amber color, with a good theraputic amount of tea tree in it. I have not done it with cp, because the M & P works so well, plus, you don't lose any of the medicinal benefits due to high temps. I always have a huge bar in the kitchen, and two huge ones in the bathroom for sink & shower. I have a friend that even uses a huge bar in the kitchen and just rubs his dish cloth over it to wash dishes. I can't talk him into using anything else I make. I give him samples, and they just sit there. He uses it for shaving, shampoo, body, hand & dishwashing.
Guest guest
No ... it's .5 oz per POUND. One half ounce is approximately one tablespoon. You'd need to weigh one cup of M & P to see what the weight is in ounces and then adjust the amount accordingly. Guest guest
In the products I make for sale, I only use lavender or patchouli e.o.s. This is because all of the other e.o.s that I looked into said " not for use by pregnant women. " Am I to ask my customers if they think they might be pregnant? If a pregnant woman should not use it, why should anyone use it? (I also used cypress e.o. for a short time, its supposed to be fairly safe, but it made me sneeze) What is you guys' take on that? Is the theory that once the e.o. is in the product, its at a small enough dilution that its ok for anyone to use? Is it just we who handle the stuff in large quantity who need to be concerned about toxicity? corrina > Just a quick word of warning ... essential oils should never be used in a product above 3%, and that is too much for some EOs. > > So ... the absolute most EO that should ever be used per POUND of product is .5 oz. In the cream the lavender takes over. You can't smell the pachoulli at all? Any sugesstions? The pachouli/ylang is really a pachouli/ylang/lavender blend. The lavender is really to bring the price down. You know, soap is soap. it washed off. But cream sinks in. But again, I'm not in a position to offer expert opinsions on EO's. I achor my lavender 40/42 for soap with a bit of geranium, to it won't fade. Lavender is a top not, very fleeting. With soaps it 40/42. In creams, its the good stuff. in Cambridge ~~Madness takes its toll, please have the exact change~~
