It is an " all-natural " preservative with some pretty impressive

test results. I first read about it in an issue of Happi magazine.

It is manufactured by a company called Bio-Botanica. They have an

article published about it (and BioPein) on their web site, listing

the organisms tested and the results. It is reputed to be far more

effective than most synthetic preservatives most are using. Worth

the read. I would very much like to get some, but can't find anyone

who sells it in small amounts. I called a distributor, and they

have a 5-kilo minimum order at $179/kilo. Yikes. I inquired about

a special order of 1 kilo, and they agreed to do it, but at a flat

rate of $250. Yikes again. Anyone interested in reading the

article can go here. The article itself is in PDF format.
