Guest guest Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 I just thought I'd share something I read in Golf for Women. The article was called Boning Up by Garner. What she discussed was that one of the contributing factors to osteoporosis was the fact that any calcium women were getting wasn't getting assimilated into the bones, resulting in bone lose. Vitamin D assists in the assimilation of calcium. Further, they found that one of the contributing factors was sun screen. Apparently the sunlight is a big source of vitamin D and even an SPF 8 reduces the amount of vitamin D your body gets. Other natural sources were dairy and fatty fish (whatever that is) Additionally they found that vitamin D reduced chances of breast and ovarian cancer by half. Quote
