Guest guest
An absolutely stellar idea Anya! Any of us can do this regardless of whether or not we have all of the top ingredients because those of us at the very least have spice...to take this to such a different level is the best concept I've heard in a very, very long time. Imagine, each of us with our unique blends taking a bit of time and meditation and then daily a moment of peaceful reflection and projection by simply diffusing, self anointment, personal ceremony if you will and creating in our personal space a tangible experience and reminder that 'we can become the change we wish to see, it all begins with 'me'......and doing so in a loving postive manner cannot help but create a ripple however subtle beyond our confines physically or mentally......this is a lovely and loving idea......I can't help but think in doing this our minds and hearts will open a bit further . Make no mistake....I remember when I read a book, now out of print and alas, lent to never be returned, a very deep and moving concept of the spirit and energy......I will use a general description that I've carried with me for many years because of this book 'I Say Sun Rise' by Talbot Mundy. If one were to take a grain of sand and drop it into the ocean, there will have been a change. That tiny grain of sand would part the water falling to the bottom of the sea and nestle onto the ocean's bedding thereby changing that environment forever as the very grains of sand there will have to make room for the tiny grain that is new and from that point on it has changed the enviroment forever . Seems insignificant, wouldn't be noticed but in time and many grains of sand there would be shift, critical mass if you will and hopefully a great and postive collective consciousness. So it is with all things within each of us. From thought to form creates an evolution and at this moment, this process is going on all of the time anyway. Why not be aware and an active part of this? This does not start en mass, but one person at at time. This has always been so and will always be so , we simply have not taken the time to be aware or awake. Some choose to sleep walk thru life. But a scent much like burning sage rises to meet the wind. I do this by practice for different reasons. One example is when we burn sage or frankincense we have in mind our babies now somewhere else and each time I do this I affirm to myself and speak these words......'Creator, as the smoke rises in memory and honor of my babies, so does the love of their mother's heart'.....and I would like to think they catch a waft of scent and know its me. Perhaps we should do this for all of our global siblings. You have a good heart. Evie

I'd say sandalwood, rose otto, and coriander. I'd blend myrrh with the sandalwood for a base, and definitely roses, maybe rosa damascena? Citron for sure; we use citrons in the ritual for Sukkot. **************************************************************** Azalais Aranxta (~malfoy) ataniell93 on LiveJournal and Vox malfoymadness " I know the true world, and you know I do. However I do not know if incense scents are used in Jewish or Arabic would you say Muslim religious rituals? A most interesting twist bravo for resolution!! Guest guest
> > Feel free to add to the group fantasy blend :-) > > -- > Anya Hi all, I think this is a marvelous idea. My accord is based on the bounty of the land that these three great families of faith call their spiritual home. Cassie--for the acacia that live and grow in desolate conditions Cedarwood--for the famous--and now destroyed--cedars of Lebanon Olive leaf--for the ubiquitous olive tree that has nourished residents for thousands of years and stands as a universal symbol of peace. The accord can't really stand alone, but combined with other notes . . .. who knows? ~Becky

I tried to add the grapefruit, but it kept fighting with the other scents...;-) Blessings and joy in your journeys Alwyn L'hoir www.bluemoonperfume.com www.mrspipersphotoparlour.com www.acountrywomansjournal.blogspot.com www.quantumpeace.blogspot.com

I'm actually going to try that blend if you don't mind! I don't have any cedrat, so I may use green mandarin instead... Ambrosia
Guest guest
i would think patch and sandalwood, myrrh, myriad spices and incense's that are traditional to all three major religions would be a must... drat, my books are still in a box so......wikipedia it is ! But don't forget YOUR self in this blend...since we will be blending and using our personal spiritual and symbolic essences, the one we define ourselves by would have to be in it....that way you have two ways to release positve energy! (hopefully cause and affect). It may help searching all three major world religions as they eminate from the same area so search there first for the indigenous and then lastly the trade routes and then the essences used for spiritual things as well as wonderful foods and festivals....I think we'll find olive important as well. I don't have a Koran or a Torah or I'd do a bit of searching of ritual , oils used and scents that were offered in smoke. That part of the world is where to start. If we are to bridge that, then what we define ourselves with in scent should also be in this blend there by making our contibution in a very personal way and I really look forward to some of the blends to come regarding this concept. Mine will be simple but not less potent. Its the heart and intent behind the action eh? This sounds like sort of a benediction type formulation. Any one listen to Loreena McKennitt?.....when i have her songs on that have a bit of arabic/celtic influence I find that in my mind spices and scents and caravans just pop in...so for those who are stuck....try finding some songs online to perhaps jump start your inspiration.......I still love Sting's 'Desert Rose'......I do get a sense of scent with that song and then Loreena's 'Mask and Mirror' and another one....she did a full length cd of sacred times and pilgramages of various cultures and does a wonderful job of opening that mysterious and ancient part of our minds. The monk singing at his death bed I played while Pope died and it seemed fitting....but she brought several cultures to that album. The point was the same message.....we all have that deeply Sacred idealogy or practice deep down inside and somehow she manages to bridge those inspite of very clear differences. I have a special passion for theology and luckily i can access info on foods, spice, spiritual practice etc by phoning a friend. It does make a difference. Rose is seemingly also a global iconic flower too so I would think that would also be in this blend...not sure what I'll end up with but so far I've certainly saved some of the notes of scent that have so far been posted. From thought to form.....very cool. Now, what do we get from palm that can be used? evie
Guest guest
> I don't have a Koran or a Torah If you have a Protestant version of the bible, the Old Testament is the Torah. If you have the Catholic bible, leave out the so-called apocryphal books. The Talmud, which is a priestly commentary on the Torah, adds much insight into both the writings and the culture which honors them. > > Any one listen to Loreena McKennitt?....Loreena's 'Mask and Mirror' and another one....she did a full length cd of sacred times and pilgramages of various cultures and does a wonderful job of opening that mysterious and ancient part of our minds. Guest guest
Becky, remind me to defrag my gray matter hard drive...........AND A BIG ROUND OF DUH-PLAUSE.....I knew that........doh.......but you did bring up that there are some other ideas and thoughts so I knew there was more that I didn't have access to. Not in a practicing sense. Thank you for the information. That is much appreciated. Dates might be doable....other fruits are tapped, why not Dates? I have both versions of the Bible and then the Koran on CD. I did have one that was more of 'if you aint us yer goin ta hell'.....so I pitched those. I wouldn't let my kids around such hate where if one is different they are simply WRONG as opposed to seeing the Sacred in all people . I had to put up a 'no solictiation to include religious' on my door. I still say my collection if I had my choice....the entire collection of ph Campbel. LOVE him and the information he gives. Makes total sense. That said, one scent in my text is called 'Tobias' . Tobias offers up in smoke the entrails of a fish.....I'm thinking I'll let good ole Tobias keep his smoking entrails as I highly doubt I'll persue that attempt LOL! There is a lot of info there but it would be easier I think to blend using that area and the trade of old. All three major religions come from the same area so it wouldn't be hard, for those of you who have access to rare oils etc...if you are like me, I will not use them. I've decided in this blend to take at least one or two drops or what is the use in having something and not using it at least once. If this is for 'peace' in the mid east, (I extend that for all peoples) then perhaps making a little to keep in a sacred place for use when you have your wits about you and use just a drop. Keep the rest safe and secure, but at least even diluted, using some of them would be an incredible spiritual experience and the intention surely would create a positive effect. That would sort of be like a blessing oil. I'm going to do that. I have three tiny bottles I will take one drop of each out and put that with what I have in larger amounts of another resin or essence and I'll use it and I " ll be sure to use it when my head and my heart are in the 'right' state. I was born into a scented house hold. I don't recall a time in life we didn't have an altar and there wasnt sandalwood burning or frankincense and then later when I married our children grew up with an altar with sage, cedar, sweet grass lavender, resins of my childhood and my kids recall many things using scent. They can tell you specific times when they first noticed that scent and their recall is amazing....they were just toddlers. My altar is an all inclusive one btw...gotta have a happy Buddha too! Well, off to do that blend and things made from a childs heart......I really like this idea very much. Evie

Guest guest
Ok, So, I'm going to create my fantasy blend, since I have none of the oils... Mignonette, Cedar of Lebanon, Sandarac, Pomegranate seed, Etrog, Balm of Gilead, Petitgrain Cedrat, Onycha, Terebinth, Sumac, and Tansy, and some rose... I have no idea what it would smell like...
