Guest guest
Hi , No, I did not say that milk thistle killed fungus or yeast. I was taking it hoping to detox liver, to improve health of my liver, etc, all the reasons they give to take it. Here is what my email said: " It seems every time I take something to either kill yeast or fungus I get a rash. I understand that. However now it seems I get a rash from things I'm told to take for mycotoxins too. Croft recommended L Cystein and my face broke out in rash. So I stopped that for awhile and now I tried milk thistle and got small rash of same 'bubbly type' on inner elbow area. Does that make sense to anyone?? Could it mean substance is letting toxins loose in my body, rather than dragging them out? Perhaps my liver just can't take anything in great quantity. " Angel: In a later email I added that I got the bubbly rash from ALA, when trying to detox from high lead levels (exposed to lead after dry sanding some paint that turned out to have underlayers of leaded paint- 2003), so it seems I'm reacting to detoxing. I'm assuming liver trouble because exception is I got same rash to taking Tylenol, after just a week of one at bedtime and one in middle of night to help me sleep during a week I was having trouble. Rash was identical, so I would say rash is coming from my liver since Tylenol is known to be toxic to liver. Also previous to Nystatin fiasco I used to take Tylenol to help me sleep like that and got no rash, so liver trouble is my conclusion. With the Tylenol, I also got stomach cramping, nausea, loss of appetite and other signs of liver trouble. Rash stopped hurting the morning after first night I did NOT take Tylenol so it was my liver for sure. The rash looked the same and was even in same area of rash from Nystatin and ALA, bubbly rash around my wrists, and forearm underskin, some on back of hands. Rashes from things I took to detox from 'toxins' have been different. L Cystein caused a red blotchy rash on face that was not bubbly but may have developed into bubbles, don't know as I stopped it. It took several days to clear up. The rash from milk thistle looked identical to earlier rashes, started out with itching and no sign of rash and then bubbling rash developed. What I've read as 'an itch that rashes'. Itch is first and then later rash appears. On my arms again but this time in crook of elbow (area where you give blood). I wondered if reaction to giving blood but the bubbly look seems to go along with toxic rashes but I can try a small amount of milk thistle again after it disappears. So my post is in agreement with your comment that milk thistle is meant to aide liver in dumping toxins and could be Herx reaction. However Herx reaction is to be avoided. It desireable only to see if an antimicrobial or antifungal is working since toxins showing up is sign of die-off. After you get Herx reaction showing medicine is indeed killing microbe you are supposed to back off because toxins exiting skin is sign liver cannot keep up with detoxing and that is a bad thing because these excess toxins the liver or kidneys cannot get out fast enough can damage organs. Every doctor, which are all practice alternative medicine- otherwise you wouldn't even be having conversation in the first place, say to stop medicine until rash disappears and then restart at lower dose, or if sign is slight, to back down to smaller dose, because rashing is not desireable except for that one time sign that agent is working. However since milk thistle is not killing any microbes, this must only be just due to release of toxins from liver. So I'm a little scared now. My one doctor says I'm too sick to detox by conventional means (my cancer was in pelvic area)and to sauna or do IV's of minerals and vit C. I did the IV's for awhile and was okay with them but haven't tried them since my 'overdose' of Nystatin last summer so not sure how I would react now. I talked to a woman and her husband at Dallas Clinic who read and incidentally recommended reading " Detox or Die " and she said she was not responding well to detox efforts and her doctor also said she was too sick to use detoxifiers. I guess this is concern that liver may already be too damaged. She had become sick for mortuary work inhaling formaldehyde. She was doing sauna treatment. I don't know what else. I wanted to ask her but ran out of time. Her husband said if I read " Detox or Die " , don't start to try to detoxify until you have finished reading the entire book to the end. He said his wife started to try the things recommended in book as she read them and outcome wasn't good. He didn't elaborate but he said you have to read the whole thing to the end to understand how to do it correctly for your own situation. Maybe some cautionary things at end. In the meantime I'm going to try the saunas. My Y has a dry heat sauna included in my membership. --- LymeAngl@... wrote: > ********I have been doing volunteer work in the > Hepatitis communities for 10 > years and never have I ever heard of someone > getting a rash from Milk > Thistle....Who told you that Milk Thistle kills > yeast or fungus? Guest guest
Just my opinion, I would stop everything now and try some benedryl. They usually give that in the hospital when you have severe allergic reaction. Try some zinz oxide on rash, it seems to help me. Just my advise, I am no expert.
