Guest guest
A newly built home is a landmine of possible causes for your distress so you have to take it one thing at a time. Your illness may have multiple causes which are all exacerbating each other. The mold may have been brought in but with a new house, may not be endemic to the structure in so short a time and I am sure the experts here can help you. I am more familiar with the chemical toxins lurking in new buildings and am myself having trouble with formaldehyde in a new structure. This is very commonly encountered in new places along with other issues. 1. Did your structure have termaticide (termite bug liquid) applications to the foundation? Poured into the newly dug foundation and/or sprayed on the foundation after building was done? Often, this is mandated by the mortgage agreement and done automatically without consulting you regarding your preferred treatment method. Depends on your location of course but termaticide can be responsible for all these symptoms. Find out! 2. Did you build on old farmland? If farmed in the last fify years, you may have dug into soil that has a lot of undegraded pesticides in it. I moved into a five year old duplex last year only to have to leave in two days time due to pesticide poisoning symptoms. I tested out with blood results indicating this and then tested the air in the house finding CHLORDANE and four other varieties of similar poisons. These were banned decades ago but remain in place and contaminate houses when they are built on those locales. 3. Sheet rock, wood products, flooring and laminates, rugs etc. are all rich in formaldehyde - especially insulations. This is a very big problem in new homes and can be measured. I asked a question earlier about levels since my place measured in the ppm level. 4. Adhesives and VOCs from paints, primers and sealants last for a long while, particularly if oil bases were used. Also there are fungicides and mildicides in some paints (particularly KILZ) which are also found in wallpaper. These petrochemicals can singly or in combination make your life miserable for awhile. New construction is a soup. Consider the following: 1. DO you feel better out of the house? Can you stay elsewhere for awhile to physically stabalize and to make sure the house is the basis for your distress? This will yield good information for your docs and relatives/friends. Then you will be able to make better decisions about what to do as well - testing, replacing materials or selling out and buying an older home that has outgassed adequately over time. 2. Consider home testing of air quality for the above items if you think there is a good chance that these may be in play for you. Home kits are available in SKC catelogues (No financial interest) and air testing can be done in numerous ways that you can learn about from environmental testing labs. The results can save your life as it has mine on a number of occasions (I was disabled by pesticide poisoning). And it gives your docs permission to work on the real problems instead of just visible symptoms. Wishing you the best of luck in solving your problems, Barb ================================ -- In , " shybasset " <shybasset@...> wrote: > > After my move into my " newly built " home, I've developed NUMEROUS > health issues and spent over $13000 personally on docs/diagnostic > tests/xrays to find ALL were negative, except for GERD(endoscopy). > Then Jan this year had eye dryness/burning....docs said blepharitis. Guest guest
well I am sorry that you are here too. the first thing is to get those rugs out of your house. (but save them as they may need to be tested.) you mention your car so it will need probably need to be tested. can you puchase something like an austin air filter for you bedroom in which you sleep that your rugs were not in??? you may have another issue going on with the very newness of your home (ie formaldehyde, glues, fixatives, etc. outgassing) and purchasing a filter would at least help lighten your load along those lines. however, the most important thing to do would be to get out of your house and go live in a non toxic envionment. You will need treatment. One starting place is your Candida infection. Immediately start a quality probiotic. Obtain Dr. Shoemaker's book. You did not mention the area of the country in which you live. Board members can recommend a doctor to you better if we know that much information at least. Do you feel better when you leave your house??? It is not too late if you do. Never give up hope and remember that fear in itself can kill you. shybasset <shybasset@...> wrote: After my move into my " newly built " home, I've developed NUMEROUS health issues and spent over $13000 personally on docs/diagnostic tests/xrays to find ALL were negative, except for GERD(endoscopy). Then Jan this year had eye dryness/burning....docs said blepharitis. Then in April startedf to worsen with stomach pain (I lost 37 pounds in 5 weeks last July)....I'm 59 and weigh now 136 and 5'8 " " VERY SCARY!! Since Aug 4 this year, EVERYTHING has hit.....burning eyes/throat/tip of tongue /top of mouth pallete, BAD bitter metallic taste in mouth, bloated feeling, stuffy nose, skin sores, loss of sex drive, and probably the WORST is MAJOR chronic FATIGUE, toredness, fog brain, poor concentration, poor co-ordination....ALL of this is NOW 24/7....HELP!!! Thought I'd be in ER last 2 mornings!!! I " think " that I got the mold from bringing in a houseful of large rugs obtained at Goodwill Stores to put down on top of carpet already in my house. Betcha some/muckh of rugs were from homes/biz that had water damage/mold problems. Plus, this past summer, I spilled 2 gallon size water containers on floor of my car....maybe the HIGH heat(summer) developed spores on floor of car. I'm DEVISTATED....my lifestle is CHANGED!!! I've read past 2 days LOTS about the mold, and it seems to be NON_REVERSIBLE....correct? What are the medical/nutritional drugs used to treat it....immunosuppressants...like STEROIDS(prednisone)....HORROR story of side effects and adverse drug reactions!!! Is this mold thing an almost GUARANTEED " slow death " ? Really serious!!! Please comment back....I'm new here and blown out by it....it is a NIGHTMARE. Thanks for comments!!! OH, and I also have a YEAST infection from it (oral thrush) and probably in GI tract. Thanks....this is a VERY active board, and I'm sorry you are here too.
