Guest guest
Hi , Yes, of course. There's just a lot of info so hopefully it won't be too overwhelming to stick it all together. I'll try to break it up so it's easy to follow.****HOW TO ORDER PH STRIPS****You can order pH strips online at www.ph-ion.com pH strips can also be found at some local pharmacies or health food stores. Make sure you get the ones that have the smaller increments. For example; 6.0, 6.25, 6.5, 6.75, 7.0 instead of 6.0, 7.0, 8.0. And make sure the pH strips test at least as low as 4.5 and as high as 9.0, as these are the ranges that will be most helpful. ****HOW TO TEST PH*****Urine pH's can fluctuate often. This is not usually true for the saliva pH. So testing the urine pH's consistently is recommended. Testing saliva pH once every few weeks is appropriate when you are trying to restore a healthy pH.To test first morning urine pH, urinate on the pH strip, or urinate in a container and dip the strip in until thoroughly saturated. Wait 15 seconds and check levels. To test first morning saliva pH, you can spit in a container and dip the strip or put the pH strip inside the cheek. (ph-ion has confirmed that their strips are completely non toxic and safe to use inside the mouth. They also confirm that they are GFCF but will not divulge the ingredients as they are proprietary. They said if you have specific questions they can confirm if an ingredient is in the strips without releasing specific information.)For those who have a child in diapers, parents have found putting a cotton ball in the diaper and squeezing it onto or pushing it into the pH strip has been an easiest way to get the pH's. ****Why the urine pH should be acidic and the saliva pH alkaline?****The urine pH represents what our bodies are excreting. If theurine is acidic, it means that acids are being drained from the body. If the urine is alkaline it means that acids are notbeing drained efficiently. Those acids will remain in the body andcontribute to an acidic terrain. We want the urine acidicbecause this means that our bodies will become more alkaline. The saliva pH represents the current state of the body. SO ifit reads acidic (less than 6.8), our bodies are acidic. IF it reads alkaline, our bodies are alkaline. Yeast, bacteria, parasites and disease all thrive in an acidic environment. By helping to restore a healthy pH, these things will be much easier to control. Also viruses, heavy metals, parasites, bacteria and yeast are acid forming in the body and will contribute to the acidic terrain.****Why do we test the first morning urine pH/saliva pH?****The first morning urine pH will be the most acidic because most acids are drained through the night. They will also be the mostreliable because they won't be affected by stress, food, water, exercise, or anything else that can make our pH fluctuate. Tosee if you are draining acids efficiently, always use the firstmorning urine pH.The saliva pH becomes more acidic after we eat because it helpsto break down the foods. So if you test the saliva pH too soonafter a meal, it can read more acidic than the body actually is. ALways test the first morning saliva pH before food or water.****HEALTHY PH LEVELS****A healthy first morning urine pH is 5.8-6.2. For someone who is detoxing, the first morning urine pH can go as low as 5.5-5.8, as this increases the rate of acid excretion. Urine pH's represent what the body is excreting. A healthy first morning saliva pH is 6.8-7.2. The saliva pH represents the current state of the body.****WHAT IS COMMON/ASD KIDS? WHAT DIFFERENT pH's INDICATE?******The majority of asd kids (whose parents report) have a high first morning urine pH (over 6.2) and a low saliva pH (less than 6.8)which indicates that they are not draining acids efficiently. Their bodies are acidic.*A small amount have a low urine pH (under 5.5) and alow saliva pH (under 6.8) which means that they don't have enough of a mineral reserve to realkaline the body and their bodies are acidic.*ANd a smaller amount of kids have a very high urine pH (usually 8.0 or higher) and high saliva pH's (higher than 7.4) which means that they are acidic and have a low mineral reserve so that their body is producing ammonia to buffer the acids. (Though it's important to note that there are other reasons for high ammonia levels.) Giving acidic foods to these kids will not help to lower the pH. These kids can benefit from minerals supplementation with enzymes, assistance in draining excess acids, and alkaline forming foods.*There are also a few kids that start with a perfect saliva pH (7.0)and perfect urine pH (5.8). So it's definitely a mixed bag but themajority of asd kids appear to have high urine (over 6.2) and low saliva. (under 6.8)****SOME THINGS THAT CAN HELP TO REALKALINE AN ACIDIC BODY*****In order to realkaline the body using foods, you would need to eat80% alkaline forming foods and 20% acid forming foods. To maintaina healthy pH, you would eat 60% alkaline forming and 40% acidforming. For our asd kids, this can sometimes be tough because theyhave so many dietary restrictions already. And some are actuallyallergic to some of the alkaline forming foods. Here are two sites that can help you determine which foods are alkaline forming and which ones are acid forming. http://home.bluegrass.net/~jclark/alkaline_foods.htm http://www.essense-of-life.com/info/foodchart.htm*In clinic, BioRay found that Liver Life restored the alkaline/acidbalance in the body much more quickly and without the hard work ofan alkaline forming diet. Liver Life is very effective at helping to drain acids and restore a healthy pH. For some, the pH regulates very quickly and Liver Life is all that is needed. For others, the pH takes time to regulate. And some may decide to assist the process further by including some of the following:*eating more alkaline forming foods*using fresh squeezed lemon juice which is one of the most alkalineforming foods. It assists in draining acids, restoring a healthypH, is a great cleanser for the kidneys and assists with digestion.*alkaline dropshttp://www.alkalinebooster.net/*drinking alkaline water*chewing foods properlyAlkaline forming foods that are not chewed properly will turn acidic in the body. If you/your child does not chew well, make sure you use digestive enzymes with every meal.*moderate exercise...We also release acids from our lungs and our skin. So moderate exercise is very helpful. But excessive exercise will cause an increase of lactic acid build up in the body which will contribute to an acidic environment. (common in athletes) For the kids who do not sweat, it is very likely they are acidic. *For those who do not want to try Liver Life. Look for supplements that help to drain acids, decongest/support both liver detox pathways I and II, are alkaline forming, cleansing to the kidneys as well and assist in digestion. This is all I could think of for now. I hope this helps.TamiWGavin's momBioRay, Inc. Hi , Yes, of course. Guest guest
This was a really useful post - thank you - I have some ph strips knocking about - like you do! so will check it out. I've been reading about the Body Ecology Diet which follows the 80/20 principle - is anyone using that diet here? If so, any comments on it? - effectiveness, practicality, expense, etc? Guest guest
My boys results are 8+ for four of the six days, 6.4 and 7.2., and saliva averages at 6 over the same period - he doesnt quite fit into any of the descriptions given, so I wondered what are the other reasons for high ammonia levels? - we have discovered he has a problem with the citric acid cycle of his metabolism but still arent sure what the implications of all this are and how to move forward? Will the Liver Life help with this or would something else be recommended? Not having much luck introducing alkaline foods and finding citric acid in most of his current supplements.......and does this mean the capryllic acid in Yeast Aid is difficult to process too? Am desperately short of cash so if I restock everything I need to get it right.....help! Guest guest
Check for Helicobacter pylori. It is urease producing, living in stomach due to its Ammonia neutralizing HCl in stomach.
