Turkey - the heaven for toxic mold

This post isn't written against a specific nation or country. However,

I cannot be politically correct about something that has literally

destroyed my life over the course of last 15 years. I live in Serbia.

We are geografically close to Turkey. The amount of mass products

imported from Turkey has increased since 1990. Over 90% of these

products are contaminated with toxic mold or very nasty mycotoxins.

Even brand new clothes are covered with mycotoxins. Most people don't

sense this instantly since they are not so sensitive to mold. I

suppose all people are negatively affected, but they can't establish

the cause-effect relationship because for them the effects are not

instanteneous. Also, Turkey is one of the few countries where we can

travel without a visa, and since it's a dirt cheap destination (pun

intended ;) many are going there for their vacation. When they come

back, they bring all the nasty stuff on their clothes, suitcases etc.

I am almost sure the person I met in the bus was returning from

Turkey. That country is literally the greenhouse for some of the

nastiest molds I have had the displeasure of experiencing. I cannot be

politically correct when it comes to the issue of toxic mold. For many

of us it's a matter of health and illness, or a matter of life and death.

I must warn all mold sensitive people that Turkey is a Toxic Mold

Heaven. If you're sensitive to mold, a vacation to Turkey is likely to

considerably ruin your health, and you will never be quite the same

person. I don't have the slightest idea how the Turks manage to

survive surrounded by so much toxic mold. Perhaps they adapted over

time. Those unlucky among them who didn't ... they probably just died.

" Read these comments posted by people who went there. Keep in mind

that most probably they are NOT particulary sensitive to mold. They

usually think the food was bad. While that is probably also true, I'm

pretty sure that the MILDEW and BLACK MOLD some of them also mention

was THE cause of their ruined holiday. "

" We stayed there for four nights in may 2006. (Originally booked it

for a week.) When you see the room you get a shock -- gloomy and

dirty, not enough light in the room, and not enough sun coming in

either. The carpet was never cleaned or vacuumed. The maids were not

cleaning either. The shower curtain was full of mildew, never cleaned

or changed. No tissues in the room. The bedcovers were dirty. The

front and balcony door were hard to unlock. The balcony door had a huge

whole so when it was completely shut, there was still a big opening

letting bugs and insects pass through. The walls had cracks and the

ceiling had patches of paint. The beach is a private beach in that it

is a one hundred meters wide beach belonging to Marti and guards will

ask you ten times a day if you stay at Marti. But, you swim among

boats. There is little space to swim. On your left you have the

yachts, the tour boats, the taxi boats evey half hour and on your

right all the parasailing boats, the scooters, the rentals. In front

of you more boats. The worst part is the food. It is repetitive, no

variety for vegetarians. But mostly, there are flies all over the

place. They sit on the food. You can't find something to eat with no

flies. I have never seen that many flies in my life. During our whole

stay there, we had severe diarrhea and food poisoning because of this.

I have never seen such a dirty restaurant place. We could not eat

anything and were practically going to the bathroom every fifteen to

thirty minutes. The moment you think it is over and you are ok, you

eat something at breakfast or dinner thinking it is safe and the whole

bathroom trip starts all over again. We were not able to enjoy our

vacation because of this since their food made us sick and weak all

the time. Also, the food quality and taste was not good. The Tturkish "

dishes were not authentic. Even though kayahan " looks " like the best

place in kas, it is definitely not a three-star hotel. The rates are

outrageous for what they are offering. Stay away from this place. I

would not recommend this place not even to my worst enemy. This place

hardly qualifies for zero star. .../snip/...Beware of the brochures,

the pictures are misleading. Some of the hotel staff is helpful, some

don't speak much English and are a nuisance by following you and

trying to look friendly. Some of the receptionists are so hyper you

think they are on something! There is not a single thing i enjoyed at

this hotel. The rooms were really dirty. The food was too dirty with

flies flying all over. We both got severe diarrhea and food poisoning

because of that and did not enjoy our vacation at all. This place

ruined our vacation and our impression of Turkey. We never want to go

there again!

" Well what can I say? One look at the room in this hotel was enough to

make us ask to be moved to another hotel.

I wouldnt have housed a dog in this room. the towels and bedding

resembled rags the pillows were all stained, there was black mould on

the ceilings in the bathroom and bedroom the door leading out to the

ground floor had a five inch gap at the bottom. It was a disgrace.

The reception area resembled something out of Fawlty Towers, although

staff did seem helpful and offered us breakfast while we waited the 2

hours for the rep to arrive. But on seeing what was on offer we

declined, boiled eggs, ham, cheese and cornflakes even the half dead

fly in the sugar had given up the will to live.

My experience with this property took place in:

October, 2005

My ratings for this hotel are:

TerribleValue

Okay, but some problemsRooms

TerribleCleanliness

TerribleService

I traveled to this hotel with: family members

My visit was for: extended vacation

Would I stay at this location again: no way!

Having read the reviews on here I have to warn people that this hotel

is entirely different at the end of the season. What on the face of it

seems a wonderful hotel turns into an absolute nightmare..../snip/...

The food in the main restaurant was amongst the worst I have ever had

and of 20 families I spoke to 17 had come down with sickness and

diarrhoea, by the end of the week most people limited themselves to

only eating bread and chips. We would have ventured out to one of the

many local restaurants in the village were it not for the fact that

they had closed and most were undergoing major refurbishment. The

thing that really topped it of was when we arrived for breakfast on

the Sunday morning one of the many cats that were roaming round the

restaurant had left a pile in the middle of the floor which was

cleaned up by a member of staff who then went on serving customers

without washing his hands (kind of explains why so many people were ill) "
