Jeanine, fruit and other things DO go go bad

faster in moldy home. I know people who can

leave fruit out for very long periods and never

get moldy and I had similar problem to you. I

also have the problem outside as I live a very

short distance from a heavy wooded area and we

have three huge shade trees that create deep

shade around house, two in the front and one in

the back (along with the woods). First of all

the yard is so buggy, I won't go out there unless

I have long sleeves and long pants on no matter

how hot it is and also have sprayed myself with

something to repell the bugs, otherwise I get all

bitten up. Secondly everything gets moldy

outside. I try to go outside for a breath of

fresh air and pretty soon realized there was none

around my home. I go out about once a year and

clean the concrete with algaecide now. I removed

one tree from the front yard to get some sun on

front of the house and went out this week to

enjoy the sun on the front porch and realized I

was face down in moldy cement (black and

green)(towel between us), so it's everywhere

around here. I thought the sun would knock it

out but I guess so many years of deep shade and

the mold and algae spores are deep into the

concrete. When I clean it with algaecide, I only

clean off the top apparently. I bought some

bamboo chimes to hand outdoors and in no

time...moldy, so it's a moldy environment here

period. NOW, I feel better INSIDE the house than

OUTSIDE since I have fixed the inside of the

house (except for attic). I even noticed that

when I am at work is only time I have sneezing

trouble. I don't at home, so I've improved

things in house. My house is getting to be

better air for me than work. I used to feel sick

at home and better at work, so improvements made.

I buy kleenix and take it to work but don't need

it here. I don't think significant problem at

work because aside from sneezing more, I feel

okay.

yes, I had hummingbird feeders on the porches of the second home

that kept getting covered with mold from this house, there wasn't even

a shade problem there, the place was just infested. get rid of the

mold in this house and you will be looking at a clean landscape. but

I do understand what your saying about timber, I rented a place for a

short time that was surrounded by timber, and found that I can no

longer tolerate

it.

Jeanine, deep shade around the house can affect

moldiness of home. My doctor asked me age of

house and did it sit in deep shade. I had

already noted before that alot of algae on bark

of tree all the way up tree on one side and mold

and algae on concrete porch and walkway and

figured it was due to no sunlight in front yard.

Two huge 100 year old Maples in small front yard

(actually they caused foundation problems that

led to indoor mold also and their roots got up in

clay sewer line and busted it up and caused sewer

line backups so they have created alot of the

moisture problems inside and moldiness of things

outside also. Some shade is nice but front of

house is north exposure mainly and then the two

huge trees, so hardly ever got sun at any time

during the day.
