Guest guest Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 why not abandon lunch boxes if you're worried. My sandwiches and fruit lasted fine in a bag in junior school. Fruit is self sealing anyway... > > > > > > Hi has anyone found any non toxic lunch boxes. I looked at Sigg > and > > > they say they use non toxic plastic but is there such a thing? Guest guest Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 oh Peta LOL I was hoping you weren't going to ask this! I got them in Greece, in Athens where I used to live. They had them in a supermarket called alphabeta, guess you'll pick some up tomorrow eh now I've given you that very useful information! I'm going to see if there is a name on the lid and maybe googling that will come up with something,I'll let you know if I have any luck, sorry they aren't from somewhere a bit closer, did you say you needed a holiday? Guest guest Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 -ps Peta, the other thing I do if my glass ones are all in use is to put non liquid foods in baking parchment. On the lid of my glass ones it says " frigoverre and then in another place on it -bormioli rocco, they're great actually, the glass is really tough too, I'm going to google away to see if I can find anything right now, will keep you posted, Josie xx -- In Autism Treatment , " Josie Wilkinson " < peter.standley@...> wrote: > > oh Peta LOL I was hoping you weren't going to ask this! Guest guest Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 no luck, found them when googled frigoverre but only on amazon.com, not UK, sorry, the only other thing I can think of is those biodgradable disposable containers made of potato starch I think but no clue where to get them from, good luck, Josie xx > > > > > > > > > > Hi has anyone found any non toxic lunch boxes. Guest guest Posted December 5, 2006 Report Posted December 5, 2006 I'm sure i've seen pyrex dishes with plastic lids in Sainsburys, would they do? Guest guest Posted December 5, 2006 Report Posted December 5, 2006 http://www.tiffintin.com/ tiffin tins came into fashion again recently so you can also get some really cool enamel covered ones if you're so inclined? I think they are all stainless steel? Mel Quote
Guest guest Posted December 5, 2006 Report Posted December 5, 2006 Thanks for the replies re lunch boxes. I am using greaseproof paper for a lot of things now. With the lunch boxes it's not knowing which ones contain lead. Using a bag would be good but made of what? Do you think that manufacturers have a conspiracy pact to disable as many kids as possible?! Guest guest Posted December 5, 2006 Report Posted December 5, 2006 I dont think manufacturers give a s**t as long as they are bringing in the big bucks, total denial and refusal to look at their part in things, greaseproof is great, but not for my elder son's yoghurt! you're probably best sticking with the paper and trying to get hold of a few of the glass containers, though I'm about to check out the tiffin boxes to see what they are, sound good,my idea of tiffin is biscuit, raisins and cherries mixed up with melted chocolate and fridged - if that's what they are made of I'm buying a stack there you go Peta edible lunch boxes, the perfect solution, go get yourself a mould LOL!!!!!! Guest guest Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 I got in touch with the tiffin tin company about the manufacture of their tins and they sent this reply - This is an interesting question and one that I can only answer by saying my manufacturer says the tins are made of stainless steel. I would be very happy to send you a sample tin for testing, if that helps. If, after testing you are interested in buying any tiffin tins, I will give you and any other parents with autistic children a further discount off my normal sale price. I would be pleased to think of my tins, not only being practical and unusual, but making a positive contribution to children who need to be free of toxic substances. Kind regards Fiona Young - Is anyone able to test the tins on here - or know how to go about doing so? Mel Quote
