An area district attorney is shutting down his Duplin County office

because of mold and mildew conditions inside the building.

Dewey Hudson, who serves Duplin, Sampson, Onslow and counties,

is shutting down the office effective Thursday, due to conditions

that he called " unbearable. " He said the problems have worsened due

to summer heat.

The Duplin County employees will be re-assigned to the Sampson and

Onslow offices.

" For several years, employees in my Duplin County office have been

sick due to mold, mildew and excessive humidity, " said Hudson. " My

employees suffer from congestion, migraine headaches, skin

abrasions, sinus infections, sore throat and irritated eyes. "

The interim Duplin county manager told Hudson that county officials

would correct the problems.
