Grayson Athletic Association Special Populations Program

2006 Spring Baseball

GAA’s Special Populations Baseball Program is for children and adults with

disabilities. Our goal is to provide ALL children the chance to play

recreational sports in a fun, relaxed environment, focusing on their abilities

GAA offers 3 different types of leagues to accommodate the various levels of

abilities and competitiveness of our players.

1) Anything Goes/Wheelchairs (no rules, FUN!) Every child hits and

crosses home plate 1 hour game limit

2) Friendly Competition (basic fundamentals, outs, FUN!)

3 pitches then hit from tee, All out players will return to dug out,

after three outs switch up sides, 60 to 90 min game limit depending on age.

3) Big Leagues (Real baseball, strike outs, FUN!) Strike outs, walks, 3 outs

and change sides, 6 innings, max run rules, 90 min. game limit.

All games are played at Bay Creek Park in Grayson on Friday or Saturday

evenings.

About Our Program

Our program is for children and adults with mental, physical and multiple

disabilities. The league's focus is to give players a chance to SHINE among

friends and family, have FUN, establish new FRIENDSHIPS, and enhance

SELF-ESTEEM,

by giving them the opportunity to concentrate on their abilities rather than

their disability. The emotional and physical benefits for the players, their

families, non-handicapped peers and the community is tremendous.
